New forums - Firefox no longer remembers user id and password ?
With the previous forums software, Firefox automtically filled in the login dialog box with my user id and password. Has anyone gotten this to work in the new system ? I've tried the "remember password" macro that usually fixes this problem, but no luck. Out of dozens of sites that I log into, I have only encountered one other site that wouldn't let Firefox auto fill the login form... Ps. It's nice to be able to post without entering the bbcodes by hand ! And to be able to preview before posting.

I don't understand the whole FireFox thing. It seems to be the buggiest pile of steaming software out there and yet people insist on using it. Dump FF and download yourself a nice working browser. There are many to choose from and all of them work faster and smoother than FF. FF had their 15 min of fame and now their right up there with Kip Winger. Mike

It's not just Firefox. Google Chrome doesn't do it anymore either.

Maybe you guys should "upgrade" to IE 9 - it works just fine.

I have started using FF again on the forums. There is a box which I checked on the login screen which said "keep me logged in" and now, I am automatically logged in when I come here. Same deal with a few other sites/forums as well. I'm logged in automatically when I open the site on THIS computer. I still have to log in on the other computers.

This is helpful and I may resort to using this method (mostly because this forum requires a long password), but it will require that I disable the erasing of all cookies on exiting Firefox as I understand it uses a cookie for this. I think the problem is that the login dialog no longer is built as a box that Firefox can recognize as a form to be filled in (if you click anywhere outside it, it goes away). I don't think that Firefox allows for exceptions to it's erasing of all cookies, as it does for the accepting of them.
