Why rely on others to create myths and hoaxes when we can create our own?
Just off the top of my head:
1. Wearing hats indoors has been found to cause brain cancer.
2. Women who have "nail art" on their fingernails and use a computer keyboard for more than 1 hour daily will become crosseyed.
3. High tech golf clubs may lengthen your drive, but exposure to all of the exotic man-made materials will shorten your life.

This world is being built right in front of me. Just beyond the horizon, just out of my sight, it's being built. If I look behind me, they wait to tear it down until I can't see them working.
Everyone is in on it, of course. Everyone else knows about it. They're watching me to see how I react. I think it amuses them to think that I'm unaware of their experiments. Everyone I know, everyone I meet, and everyone I see are all in on the conspiracy.
There is no humanity. There is no world. There are no other people. There is no escape. I exist at the whim of my captors.
What would happen if they ever realized that I was aware of the experiment? Would they continue? Would they reward me for becoming self-aware? Would they scrap it all and discard me as a subject who failed their test?

There's some entertaining ciders over Herry way, as you well know. Suffice to say that there are a few pubs where I know to ask for the 'Special' stuff. The 'Normal' stuff being ~7%....
