http://www.waves.com/plugins/f6-floating-band-dynamic-eq#presenting-f6-floating-band-dynamic-eq

...and only $29 (less at Everyplugin)! Other VST vendors (hint hint UAD) should take note of the way pricing is going...

This plug-in blows many competitive plug-ins out of the water. It's so well-thought-out, easy to use, powerful, and far less expensive on sale than some other offerings that are truly limited in features, or just expensive. Waiting to see what this does to the Dynamic EQ market.

Agreed. Jumped on it when it was first offered. (Like I need another EQ!) Been using this a lot.

I will third the sentiment. I've been using this all over the place since I got it. I agree it's well thought out. Embarrassingly, I wasn't so sharp when I first used it because I failed to notice the knob labeled "Range" and couldn't figure out why there was no compression happening! Amazing what you'll notice when you actually read the labels and/or RTFM!

Sonalsksis has a couple of dynamic plug-ins (DQ1 and CQ1) that were killer for the time, but they weren't as ovbious in how they worked. However, the double thresholds they used were clever.

OK a question can others confirm for me. I decided to go for a Waves new plug-in, the Floating 6 lim/eq thing. Downloaded the Waves Central application. However getting this thing to install has been like open-chest surgery. Its slow, unresponsive and generally useless to me right now. Before I nag, Waves can someone confirm it's not just my system.

I spoke too soon. Cleaned a few caches and embraced my inner geek. Fingers crossed then. F6 Floating-band dynamics with side chaining. Some of my other plug-ins accept 3rd party sidechaining, so I have hope.

Side-chaining would be interesting. To be able to, for example, scoop out the bass guitar only on the frequencies of the kick drum every time it hits. Hmmmm....
