New problems

For some reason, I just lost the ability to copy/paste MIDI notes in the piano roll view. The pattern roll doesn't work either. What happened? Anyone else have this problem?

Hi. The MIDI clip does not happen to be locked? Does it happen on every MIDI track in PRV? If you Ctrl drag the clip to a new track, are you able to copy / paste in PRV then?
    All the best.

    Hi guys, thanks...

Rebooting didn't help. I did not lock the track (maybe it locked itself?), but as I didn't have that much there, I deleted it and started again and it seems to work. It was strange as I never had that happen...hopefully it won't happen again..

This same behavior happened to me.
Working with a MIDI track (through a drum map) and suddenly couldn't cut and paste.

I flattened the clips, as I thought I had a clip locked or was selecting some clip for the paste I didn't expect...no luck. Created another MIDI track and cut/paste worked on that track.  Cloned the problem track and it still didn't work.

I was able to finish my editing using select, then CTRL-drag to copy, but it was the same behavior mentioned above.

    I'm running 2016-09.

Well then, methinks we found a bug! Thanks for the CTRL-drag tip. I hope I don't have to work around this problem again...it's a very frustrating one.

    Cheers!

the biggest reason for failure of copy/paste in PRV is the use of Groove clips.
its not a bug, its because groove clips are different than typical midi clips.

Ive just tested Copy/paste several different ways and all seems to be working fine here.
Im using Platinum 10.2016. Im not sure what version you are using you didn't really say.
I find in situations like this it helps to leave as much info as possible.
Your first posts was "lost the ability to copy/paste MIDI notes in the piano roll view"
That could mean a few different things.

    -CNTRL+C
    -Right click Copy
    -Using the Copy menu

Back to my original point. when you have problems such as this the first thing to do is "Bounce to clips".
This ensures you are using a standard Midi clip.
Groove clips (especially if your clip is split in to sections) can be difficult to copy/paste because of the files make up/DNA.
    I hope this helped.

I think Sonar sometimes has just had enough of my sh*t and refuses to tolerate it any longer.

You have to be nice to it. Talk to it. Show it some love. Be there for it in its time of need.
    It will come around :-)

Good points, sorry for being vague.

I too am running ver 2016.10 on Win 8 on a fast cpu. I was not running Groove clips at all. And what I lost was all copy/paste functions. It would look like it copied, but no paste. The pattern tool also did not paste, you could select a set of notes, but you could not "paint" with it.

Again, I fixed this by opening a new MIDI track within the same project and it works again...for now.

TO:  Grave Protocol -- I needed that laugh.  I think that is true.

As to the topic:  it seems that piano-roll-view opens up, but really isn't a "view" at all until I move the little slider about located at the bottom of the piano roll screen.  Then when I hit play, it actually shows the notes going by.  If I don't do this, then the notes don't go by (i.e., no scroll, no notes).  Maybe that is what is going on with copy and paste?
