New project crash

Hi, every time I try to set up a New project, Sonar crashes on me. I've tried various templates (Normal, 16 audio, etc) but they all crash. One or two of my older projects are also crashing, but most are ok and if I blank them and save as a new project, that works.
I'm using Sonar X1 Producer. 8gb Ram, 3.2ghz quad core processor. 1tb HD.
Have successfully created hundreds of projects in the past but this has just started in the last few months. My computer is not connected to the internet and has no security or other programs running on it (Win 7).

I've searched the forums but the word "Crash" comes up more than ones :)
Any help appreciated.

Do the SONAR enema. Go into AppData/Roaming/Cakewalk and rename the aud.ini file. Every now and again it's a good idea to do this. Next time you launch Sonar it will rebuild itself.

Thanks @emwhy @pwalpwal. I'm fully Patched. Does it matter what I call the aud.ini file?

You can rename it to anything, i.e. Aud.ini.bak, and SONAR will build a new one. The purpose of renaming instead of deleting is so you can restore the old template with all its customizations in case the new one does not solve the problem. Or to compare the working new one to the non-working old one to get an idea what caused the problem.

I name it audold.ini or just drag it to my desktop. It's a good idea to keep it in case something goes wrong. I've done things like this with multiple DAWS. Sometimes it's just a good idea to rebuild the ini file. It fixed a MIDI issue in Pro Tools, a frequent crash when unloading Kontkt in Reaper etc. You may have to tell Windows to allow you to view hidden system files & folders if you haven't already.

I tried it while it was closed and that didn't work, so I'll try while it's running. I did get it not to crash by opening a new "Blank" template and building from there, so maybe there's a problem with Templates.
On another note, I'm actually running X3, having upgraded from X1 and 7 producer before that.
Many thanks for the help so far.

Hi Chuckebaby, I'm using the Roland Capture. I'll try reinstalling the drivers.
Cheers.
