New song - 'No More' first draft, comments appreciated.

New song called 'No More'. First draft. Would appreciate feedback and comments. All constructive comments welcome. Its a song I wrote years ago and thought i would give it a go recording it. Layout is

Comments appreciated on overall mix, vocals, guitars, well basically everything. I will be adding some vocal harmonies in there as well and the song will start of a little different. The ending is a little boring, suggestion welcomed, cheers and thanks for taking a listen. thanks in advance for those who comment. Cheers. Hope all enjoy it. Link is below

Hey, Jason, you caught my attention right away with the drum and guitar intro, very nicely done. mix is done really well in this. I really liked the guitar solo and the bongos for the bridge was an interesting addition.

Before I make this comment, know that it's only an opinion, and that if you don't change it - the song sounds great just as it is. But the rhythm guitar kind of got monotnous over the course of the song. I think it would really bring the song to life if you had changed it up some throughout the verses instead of just changing it at the chorus. Just my opinoin, tho! Great song as is!

    Hey Jedi,

I agree, "No More" is an excellent song. I liked that rhythm guitar, that sounds real nice. Great job on vocals as well. You've mentioned you're still going to add some parts, like harmonies, which I look forward to hearing.

JMO, I would have liked some more electric guitar with distortion at certain points within the song (maybe the chorus), and especially at the end - as a compliment to the rhythm part already there.

    Cheers,
    Doug

I think the drums could definitely be more present, either louder, or panned differently, or something. Definitely a nice little tune, it does seem a bit repetitive, and adding a few accents/variants here and there could fix that :)

I don't have a problem with the guitar, but the drums sure could use a change here and there. Adding a soft lead guitar throughout as an accent/harmony would add something special to the flow, IMHO.

This is a good song and your vocals are really good, just needs a bit more "something".

I think it's a great start. I look forward to hearing what you do with it, adding a little more variation. You asked about the ending--perhaps a couple more chord changes to bring it to a close? It's good the way it is, but I'm guessing you're not satisfied with it or you wouldn't have said anything about it, so that's just my two cents worth. Good song!

The mix sounded very good... good vox mix too. A bit more changing and variation within the song structure would add interest to this good song.

    recording is done well.

Cheers and thanks for the comments all. I've been playing around with it and trying to add a bit of variety in there. Great advice all that gave, and I am working on some harmonies and a little more electric lead in there. Cheers and thanks again. should have it updated in a couple of days. thanks again.

I would hold off on adding the bass until the second verse to add some dynamics. Also, maybe change the drum sound/pattern in the beginning to a simple kick/stick across and that will also add some more dynamics. I like your voice; it made me think of XTC, though you sound nothing like Andy Partridge...weird, huh?

I really enjoyed this tune. Yes, the guitar solo had that REM feel. Your voice is great for this song, just a really neat tune. GREAT JOB!

    Jedi,

Boy, oh boy, i just love this song. It's simmering with soul colors and tasty expression. It's amazing how few chords are needed for a really good song because it's inspired and is fueled on higher octane. (I like the fade ending).

One thing I can say is it's fckn loud. I had my speakers on a quarter and fck me if it didn't blow my ears to smithereens.

After I turned it down I found it to be ok. Drums a little repetetive plus the acoustic roll

    Jason

Yeah its a really strong outline of a song and plenty of signal coming of that mp3. It's all nicely balanced though and a really good feel.

If how you developed your other tracks is anything to go by this is going to sound quite the full shilling by the time you've finished with it I reckon.

I notice a lot more confidence in your singing this time round which is great to hear.

I'm looking forward to checking back.
