New song - help with mix please

I've been working way too hard on this :).  This is a collaboration with a couple other people.  One guy did drums, another did rhythm guitar and bass, and I did all the rest last, and I'm trying to mix it.  So I'm looking for feedback on the overall mix.  I can't do anything to change the drums or bass, so telling me to change those won't do much LOL.  I've added some multiband compression to bring the bass up and the crash cymbals down (as much as possible).  It still sounds cluttered to me though.  Any suggestions on what you think could be improved and how you would go about doing it, would be much appreciated.

I like it, especially around 2:40 when the heavy guitars kick in

    Love the drums.
    Guitar is nice.

As far as improving it goes. Just say it's done and move onto another. That will make it sound much better to you in a month or so.

Enjoyed this tune immensely. I wouldn't say it is cluttered. The guitars are nicely separated. The only crit I would have is that maybe the drums sound like they are in a separate environment. If you could glue them all together I think it would be stellar.

    Nice work, well played.

First, I think the mix sounds decent the way it is, so any changes would be minor.

Second, is the mix multi tracked?  If so, then there's always a LOT you can do if you want to put in the time.  For example, you could go and replace all the drum hits with other drums if you were so inclined.  Lucky, nothing so drastic is needed here IMO.

I do think the HH is a little far forward and can be distracting at times.   Have you tried something like the Sonar percussion pluging, that can allow you to change tranisients if you want (ie get the HH in line).

Anyway, thanks for sharing, nice song.

Heard the song, though I listened to it through my laptop speakers, I thought it sounded great! It was a full sound, and the drums sound awesome. I did not get the feeling it was over crowded but full and solid. I like it!!

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

To answer the question on tracks, the drums, bass and rhythm guitar is a single track like a backing track.  I put everything else over it, so I have control of those, but limited on what I can do with drums/bass/rhythm.  I may just get the other guys to send individual tracks (like I should have in the first place ).

Glad to hear you guys are likig the song though.  Much appreciated!

Man, this is really good.  Mix sounded fine to me.  I'd listen to others though because I go by the gut and not technical expertise.  I gotta say I REALLY liked this one!  great 1st song.  The turbo guitars at 2:40 and the lead shortly after gave me chills.  I thought the leads AND the drums were great.  WOW!!!  Great licks, buddy!  Of c ourse I love the ending, I'm a bass guy.  LOL!

Great stuff!!  I love it.  I agree that 2:40 is my favorite part.  I could have so much fun if I could play like this!  lol

I liked this a lot, though I was waiting for the vox that never arrived. Listening on laptop the hats sound a little prominent - maybe eq could tame them a little if you have no other control over them. Good overall though. You'd do well to get the individual tracks at some point if you can and then you can really make it shine.
