New song! "Third Wind"
Hey guys! So I haven't been here in sooo long. School pretty much destroyed any free time I had. But I have a new one I just finished up. It's an instrumental, and I hope it blesses and inspires. I'd love any and all feedback on it! http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_9301474

Hey, this is really nice, Nick! I love the way it builds then backs off. It would be cool with some sort of melody...but I can just imagine one in the meantime. :)

Thanks Janet! Yeah, I would start with one melody, and then go "ooo this sounds cool" and it would actually be another melody line that builds the bigger "picture". Lol. I just didn't have much organization on this song.

Well, you can call some of them counter-melodies or something. :)

Haha. Okay. And I have a melody for the climax chorus thing - I just think it's a little low in the mix.

Great instrumental! The "chorus" sounds huge and full (and awesome), although I felt that building leading up to it left me hanging for a few seconds there, when it sort of disappeared. Now all it needs is lyrics, or a movie scene in front of it! -Jeff

Thanks Jeff! And yeah - I can see how it is kind of unnecessary for it to be hanging that long. And lol, for sure! My goal with this was to create almost like 3 different "scenes" - three different musical atmospheres.

Hi Nick, it has been a while since we last heard from you, so, welcome back. Interesting piece of material. It was full of intriguing turns and changes. The uptempo part felt like there could have been better definition to some of the instruments. The drums could benefit from some light fills here and there just to keep it interesting. Still, all this said, a nice listen for me.

Very nice, I would add some verb to the clap & woodblock, everything else is so spacious and big but the clap and block are very dry. Very nice though, good job.

My computer was about to explode by the time I finished. It didn't have that many tracks, but my laptop is an old man, so....

Yeah, I can definitely hear that. But I didn't have a woodblock in there. I think you're referring to the rimshot at the end, but lol I must've done something wrong there. Thanks again for the feedback!

At first, I thought this would be just a fun little side thing, but as I went along it kinda morphed into something more. I didn't really plan it out or anything.

Just listened to it. I think it's really good. There were some spots where it sounded like it clipped and I heard some crackling, but it could have been the Reverbnation was streaming ... ? I can hear where you could add more to this, but I like it the way it is. But it could be expanded upon if you weren't happy with it the way it is. Mix/mastering wise it sounds fine to me except for the clipping.

@jamesyoyo Thanks man! Means a lot. @Bub Hmm. That's weird. When I exported it, I made sure to scrub through it and look for clippage. I didn't find any. I knew I put a granular, crackling effect at the end for artistic purposes - maybe that's what you're hearing? I agree, though. I like it how it is - maybe having a concrete melody line isn't necessary...it wasn't for Bach or Beethoven sometimes. :P

Hi, Listened a couple of times [in itself a compliment]. This is purely a personal query: as it appears to my ears there are 3 parts to this how difficult would it be to reverse parts 2 and 3. If this could be done easily - and you were willing to do it - I would like to hear it. If that's 'overstepping the mark' for feedback please accept my apologies. Regards, Vincent.

Vincent! Thanks for the listen/feedback! That makes sense, but I just don't think I'm motivated enough about this project in particular to really go back and majorly tweak it like that. Haha. Plus, artistically, I wanted the climax in the middle and the falling action to come after (to use writing terms). Honestly, the whole idea with this, personally, was to pray to/worship the Lord in a way other than words - to describe to Him what I'm feeling, but at the same time bring Him glory. :) Thanks for the feedback - I appreciate it. :)
