New to CakeWalk/Sonar

Hello, I'm new to the Sonar VStudio. I 'm using Windows 7 and had all the right drivers insulted correctly. I'm able to record tracks and get signal on my VS-700R but looks like the consul is useless. I might be doing something wrong here as I don't get the automation to work or any display to mach Sonar. I have to mention that all my deep switches set to "on" as recommended.
Any info on how to get it will be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks

    are the transport keys working?
Have you updated the last firmware?
What version of sonar are you using?
Please give us more details that we can help you out.

    Thanks for your response.
    I 'm working with Sonar 8 Producer.
    I did updated the V-Studio 700 control surface Plug-in to version 1.2.
The transport keys are not responsive.
Also I'd like to mention that the blue LCD display is blank.
    Thanks

Hi, I assume you have connected the vs-700 console to the io unit with the special lead.  There should be a console led on the io and an io led on the console.
I am running Sonar X3 at the moment but hopefully you can find the config below used in my own setup.
In Sonar preferences, have you selected CONSOLE (VS-700) as a midi device input AND output.  Also in control surfaces, does VS-700-1 appear, with In and Out port set to CONSOLE (VS-700)?

Thanks again for your help. You the best man.
I got it to work following your setup.
The automation works as well as the transport keys.
But still no display on the LCD. I'll keep playing around with it till I figure the whole system up :)

I find the slightest issue with the hardware can clear the in and out port settings under controller surface config.  It is the first thing I check when the console acts up.
Your display issue is not simply the contrast being set too high or low ?  Can you see any text if you look at it at different angles?

Did you connect the console and rack together with the special cable? also, all the deep switches must be face down.

    1. turn the console off.
    2. press and hold the Timecode button on the right side of the console.
    3. while holding the button turn the console on.
    4. check the version of your console.

If you want to go back to the normal mode just turn the console off and on again.

    Tried that too.
Still ocean blue :) I know it's not a necessity but it'll be nice to get that display to work.
    I'll just Keep trying. Thanks
