New to MIDI... Need some Advice! HELP!
I just recently purchased the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 Interface, using it back to back with my Line 6 Pod ux2 interface. I just Registered and downloaded the Drivers to the computer, I got my Audio configured for the Scarlett. NOW I'm trying to configure midi devices... I Have the Alesis DM10 Studio Edrum Kit, I plugged the midi chords correctly, and I do receive a lighted signal on my Interface that its getting signal from my drums.............. Then.. *I went through youtube videos, and the help steps to configure midi. I Inserted a Midi track, clicked solo and record, no signal on my Console from Midi. I go to Preferences to MIDI and expected to see my Alesis MIDI Icon to pop up, but it only shows Scarlett USB Inputs and Outputs. On My Drum Module it tells me in MIDI its On Channel 10... so I put MIDI channel 10 on Input on Midi Track on Console.. still no signal, even though my Output device on my Interface is correctly configured for Audio. NOTE: I do Receive signal from my XLR inputs, 1/4 jacks. Just Nothing From midi. I Am wanting to Run Addictive drums.. I am just not getting any signal on my DAW from my Midi on my Audio Interface, even though my Interface is picking up the signal from my Module on my Drums . Does anybody Have any solutions? I am New to MIDI. I got the Focusrite Scarlett Specifically for MIDI use and other tasks. I Appreciate any help to fix and solve this issue! Thanks,

Hi. I believe that when you have your drum kit connected to your 2i4 via MIDI, you will have to choose the 2i4 as MIDI in/out, since that is where the signal goes to. I have a M-Audio Radium 49 connected to my RME via MIDI, and have RME MIDI 1 set as in/out. Others may know better. Best of luck.

Zargg's got your answer. If the Scarlett is showing up as a MIDI device, that is what you need to route to the input of the MIDI track.

\\ Zargg71 Hi. I believe that when you have your drum kit connected to your 2i4 via MIDI, you will have to choose the 2i4 as MIDI in/out, since that is where the signal goes to. @ Zargg71... My interface is set up in Midi Devices for In/Out. Assigned for playback recording. I opened up Addictive Drums, that link you sent me, If you look at it in Basic Kit/Customizing, at #3... its shows nothing in my midi monitors... So I'm not sure where I'm messing up at. The Scarlett isn't showing up as (Focusrite 2i4 MIDI) it's showing up as "Focusrite 2i4 USB" in the Preferences via Midi Devices. You would think it would work because it's assigned, I get what you are saying, it's just not working still for some reason. I'm not sure if there is any other option to diagnose it. I'm going to probably call Cakewalk and see what they can do. I Really Appreciate the Response, and the welcome! I'm totally new to the forum and to using midi, I have Used Basic Tracks forever, and using Cakewalk since 2008. I'm still learning everyday on X3 Producer, a lot of features! I am really curious why it isn't working for midi from my Interface when it's assigned. the only option it brings up is Scarlett 2i4 USB to assign, other than my other interface which is unchecked.

Do you have the Focusrite 2i4 USB under MIDI Devices in Preferences? If so, that is where you route your drum kit to. Example: Insert MIDI track, and choose 2i4 as input. Insert AD2. Choose AD2 as output on your MIDI track. You might have to enable echo on, to be able to hear the AD2 drums while playing. Others may know better. All the best.
