New to Music Creator & Digital Recording

Ok Guys Im officially the "FNG" here for anyone who knows what that is...
I recently picked up the new MC6 to start doing some home recording , Im using an older version of windows xp, an Maudio fast track pro interface & an alesis qx25 controller amongst other things. im new to the recording daw interface system. Ive been experimenting with recording audio direct to mc6 from my keyboard & bass here are some of my main issues rt now which i need immediate help with.

1. i have about 9 audio tracks which i need to either drag to loop the audio so that i dont have to record the entire song , or i need to be able to cut some of that audio & paste. well ive tried both already  whe i click the end & drag a track, it extends but the audio wav format doesnt stretch out , ive tried to cut & paste and either it doesnt allow me to cut it exactly where i want to cut at , or  if i do & splice the clip & try to fade/cross fade i stll get the blip, gliche sound on playback over the spliced area.

2. I have added a bass line to the song with my bass guitar i have a squire passive pbass with jazz pickups (NOT ACTIVE BASS) i connected it direct to the maudio 1/4 inch input 1 & recorded the bass track, Problem is the bass track doesnt come out at the right sound level, or sometimes i even get interference clipping before i even start the recording for the bass on that track, or if it records it i will get noise interference in the background. the bottom line is it doesnt sound as if it were like coming out of my bass amp, theres no punch or bottom end to the sound.

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys Thanks...

Welcome.... the Maudio is a good interface..... be sure to use ASIO driver mode.

    1. with audio tracks you can split, and copy the clip and paste it in other places. I have used this to copy an entire chorus or even the instrumental tracks on the verses to save the trouble of recording it in that place. If you can, it's easy enough to record it straight through.

When cutting like that it really helps to set the snap to grid.  I set to measures or at times to half or quarter note resolution. If you try to line it up manually you will have a very hard time getting things lined up to avoid that click. Snap to grid makes that easier and flawless.

One my new song on the songs forum I used the split, copy paste and snap to grid set to half notes to do some of the vocal stuff near the end.  No clicks or problems.

    2. does the M Audio have a control panel in software? You may need to adjust the input levels....or possibly you need some sort of preamp to get the signal up a bit.  getting punch may take a bit of experimentation.

If you have the M-Audio interface ASIO is the one to use. You might need to check their website and get the latest one for XP.

    Keep us posted.
