New to Sonar X3

Hi all,
I am new to Sonar X3 and seeking some starter’s advice. I do have the video tutorials however find them very complex for my needs so far. I am a guitarist and would use say a 16 Track Audio Project.
Question >
How do you get the second audio track to record without the 1st track being recorded onto the second track?
Question>
What is the simplest way to add drums backing into my project?
Thanks all. Any advice or feedback would be great.
Cheers

      edit: read the post below..
    2. What is the simplest way to add drums backing into my project?
Load session drummer 3 (or any other drum VSTi). Then use the browser to drag MIDI-clips onto the instruments MIDI-channel. You can find ready-to-use patterns in the browser's MIDI Groove Clips-folder

oh sorry.. missread the first question.. -.-

that one's a bit more complicated. it depends on what audio interface you're using and such.

can you list your hardware and describe, step by step, how you're trying to do this..?

I would strongly recommend doing the tutorials in the manual.  They will answer 80% of your most basic questions and help you step by step.

Do the actual tutorials. You will learn more from the hands on. press F1 anywhere in Sonar and the tutorials are all found in there. There are a few demo files found in the Cakewalk Content folders.
