New version of 'Wait For The Storm'

I am enormously grateful to the extremely valuable feedback provided by members of the forum when I put a link to the first demo of this melancholic acoustic song.

I have done my best to make the changes suggested. The most consistent bit of advice I had was to include a section in a contrasting key. The rest of the song is in Am - there is now an instrumental middle bit in D major. For some reason it hadn't crossed my mind to do something like this before, and I think the feedback provided should improve my songwriting in the future.

Here is the new version

Hope you like it - any further feedback would be much appreciated. We are planning on releasing it online with our proceeds in 2012 from online sales being divided between Save The Children and Ehlers-Danlos Support UK. If you think there is anything we should change before we release, please let me know :-)

This version on reverbnation is very compressed (10:1) to get it to fit onto reverbnation, so the sound should be better for the actual release.

Best wishes, Malcolm

You've created a very soulful tune.  The mix was well balanced, and the parts were well played.  The key change works perfectly.  In spite of the heavy compression, the song sounds good on my speakers, so you managed to engineer this well.  Thanks for sharing.

All the best,
Lynn

Love the flute. Very well recorded IMO.

The song has a medieval fell. Nice job.

Nice sound. Could use some tightening up with the timing in some places, and it seems a bit too long, but overall a good tune and recording.

At first I couldn't hear anything, then discovered I had unplugged my headphones...what a difference that makes!!

I loved the song . I didn't hear the earlier rendition, but this one captures all of the acoustics well. Great job!

Thanks very much for your kind comments. Yes, the flute is real - it's my wife Kathryn Thomas, flautist of the Galliard Ensemble Wind Quintet (www.fb.com/kathrynthomasflute   www.reverbnation.com/galliardensemble)

Best wishes, Malcolm
