Newb- splitting clips

I have had platinum since the blizzard we had the first Tuesday in February.  I have these massive lessons like every week.  it is an exhaustive yet enjoyable process.  New dilemma:  I have a vocal track- split it- ran a melodyne sequence on each, added a whole bunch of effects and automated volume and then I have this problem.  I want to split a clip in each at a point in the clip and move part of that clip over a quarter note or so.  Can't do- it doesn't seem to be able to split those clips.  The split option is grayed out. I am assuming that this is because of all the stuff I did to it before I wanted to split it.  So I assume I will need to do a destructive print to make it break apart.  Thanks for all your help! Understand I am still in 4th grade on all of this!

Try bouncing your clips to another track and then split.  i.e. render your Melodyne clips first.

All the best,

I will do that.  I was sure it was a relatively easy solution.  One thing I have learned as this is my first song I have wrote music- vocals, melody, guitar and drums and laid down in a complete sequence since I started- is get this timing stuff done before you start weirding things out!  However, I can already see that as you do more you will have other times where you process things and then want to split parts and move stuff around.  I will followup after I do my homework!

Also, I recommend cloning any track that you're going to edit just in case you need to start over.

All the best,

I agree with Lynn, you want to make sure to save original content.
but in order to re edit those clips, right click on the Melodyne edits and choose=bounce to clips.
this renders them and now makes them editable to split at your hearts desire.

Yep.  After I record my vocal tracks, before I do any processing or editing, I clone them.  I leave the original tracks untouched, muted and sometimes hidden.  Then I work with only the clones.

Just FYI, Region FX have restrictions on them (at the bottom of that page), and you hit on one of a few. You need to bounce to exit "Region FX" mode to enable any of the below:

"Region FX clip restrictions
The following editing functions are disabled for Region FX clips:
* Clip automation.
* Copy/paste for a time selection that contains a Region FX.
* Split clip.
* Slip-stretch clip when the Follow Host Tempo option is enabled.
* Groove Clip looping.
* AudioSnap."

You know, I am just amazed at this forum.  For the whole overworked overstressed dreamers that get maybe 4-5 hours a week you guys are great.  I just make sure I learn something every week.  (the main thing to learn is to save- that is the only unforgiveable or unrepairable sin!) thanks again.
