Newbie Post: Instr + Ptn

Is there a recommended instruments/element in Dim Pro or Project 5 for each Ptn or loop provided ? For example, what inst/element goes with 808 12 under Loops/Ptns > Drums > Techno?

    Best guess here, because there no single answer that'll cover all the possibilities. If you're using Dimension, try loading up one of the full Room or Dry kits. That'll cover a subset of GM drum mapping. You may not hear every part of the kit as designed in the selected pattern file.

    Another alternative is to use the Velocity plugin for auditioning. That has kits that you can locate easily by genre, and the kit mapping will show up in detail in the Project5 Editor's preview keyboard. In your example, you might load up one of the Trance or Electro kits to match with the 808 patterns. Click on the audio preview button next to each pattern file, and swap out the drum kits as it plays back.

    Some of these included P5 patterns don't make much sense at all from a mapping standpoint, though. Many aren't anywhere close to GM mapping, and some appear to have been triggered from a drum pad controller. These look like they slipped through the Quality Control process (a lot of "triggers": vertical lines with no real length to them). If you see anything show up in the Editor like this ...
    ___|___||__|___|
    _|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_
    ||___|_||||__||__

    ... that might not produce any sound output with any drum kit (as is). To sum up: you may have to load up several kits in any plugin to hear what might've been intended in the programming process, and even some of those may have to be edited, or selected as a group and transposed up and down.
