Newbie needs help with "track length" setting in Cakewalk 8.5 Producer.

Hello All,
I was trying to record last night and the track recorded 2:34 minutes of the song and then didn't record anything after that. I have tried a bunch of setting options, but can't seem to figure out how to set the thing to just recorded ongoing until the sng ends. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers--

JC

Check your punch in properties. you probably enabled the punch in and that's why its not recording over that mark

Is it the "auto punch toggle" button? That has a red dot on it, does that mean it is active?

Yes, that's the button, but when it's active, the whole button turns red, and there will be red markers in the timeline showing the punch range. If you're not seeing that, something else is going on, though I'm not sure what. Does the Now time keep moving after the recording stops?

Okay, I tried it, and now it records the length fine, but somehow the track isn't showing the readnigs as it records, only afterwards during playback---no what happened there?

    And thanks again everyone.

Yes, the now time does keep moving, but when we play it back noting is there beyond the 2:34 mark

Okay, with both the suggestions of the punch button and the description of how it should look, it looks like I figured it out! Thanks so much everyone. I am seriously grateful, my band mates and I were frazzled with this issue last night.

    Cheers--
