Newbie question - how to prevent hearing raw audio mixed with processed audio?

Feel free to tell me to RTFM...

I have a Presonus Firestudio Mobile.  I'm running instruments into Sonar through the inputs and play the output through my monitors.  It's a very simple setup indeed.  I can process audio just fine through Sonar with VSTs and hear the output, but it's mixed with the dry input signal too.  Can I do something in Sonar so that I only hear the processed output in the speakers rather than the mix?  With the slide VST delay, it comes out sounding phased.

thanks, when you stop laughing at my stupid question :)

Welcome to the Future Joe. No stupid questions around here.

Wet/Dry control on your VSTs. Wet is processed audio, while Dry is raw audio. You may also have the audio card mixer setup incorrectly.

You may need to go into your Firestudio Mobile Mixer and change the output settings. You may be monitoring your input signal and the output from Sonar simultaneously when you should only be monitoring the output of Sonar.

Check the last post of this thread.. That "might" be your issue:

Yeah what audiyo said - you are monitoring both the processed and unprocessed audio simultaneously, and the latency caused by Sonar's processing will produce the comb filtering you are hearing, when combined with the dry signal. You need to go into your Presonus unit's software mixer and mute the 'analogue in', in question.

I'll have three fingers of Glenlivet, with a little bit of pepper... and some cheese.

Thanks so much!  I didn't even realize I had a Presonus Universal Control utility installed, but after muting that input channel, it's working exactly as I wanted it to.
