Newby with some question (dragging does not work and I miss screensets)
Hello, I am a (dutch) new Music Creator 6 User and run into some things I don't understand. I started with wathing the video's and succeeded in connecting the AKAI LPK25 keybord and a microphone. In one of the other videos there are some predefined screensets. I don't see them and only have screenset0 to screenset10. Another more important thing is that I can't drag a midi groove clip to my soft synthesizer as shown in one of the video's. These are the steps made: - started a new project. - inserted a software synth: Cakewalk Soundcentre - activated the browser - selected browse media / Midi grooveclips/bass/funk Then I tried to drag one of the clips to the software synth like shown on the video, but nothing is dropped there? What do I do wrong?

The inserting of Sound Center gives you a MIDI track and an audio track (or does MC6 have Simple Instrument Tracks)? Be sure to drag the MIDI on the MIDI track, not audio.

@Kalle Rantaaho, thanks for your reaction. Also dragging MIDI to a MIDI track does not work.

be sure the mid track is sending it's output to the audio track with the sound center......and that in the sound center you have selected an instrument to play it. I use the copy/paste to drop loops..... I sometimes simply double click the loop and it automatically goes into the SELECTED track. Highlight the track to select it by clicking on it so it changes color slightly.

@Guitarhacker. I selected in the cakewalk sound centre a full acoustic bass. How do I set the mid track output to be send to the audio track? Isn't that standard? I also tried to use ctrl-C and ctrl-V and copy and past after clicking right. It seems to copy someting, but is does not paste anything. When I paste in a map in WIndows explorer a midi files appears in the map.

@Guitarhacker.. When I double click on a audio file. A niew audio track appears. And I am also able to drag and drop audio files to an audio track.

I think that I "solved" the problem. When I open a new project and first insert an audio track, midi track and then a synth track (CWSS). Then there is no problem. When I open a new project and first insert a synth (CWSS) a midi track and then an audio track, then it does not work! What is the logic behind this?

If you insert a soft synth using the "Insert Soft Synth" dialogue the necessary audio and MIDI track are created automatically including the correct input/output settings, right? (I don't have MC, so I assume it works like all other CW products). Why are you inserting audio and MIDI tracks separately?

Using the insert synth command automatically connects the internal signal paths properly..... If you manually insert the tracks and synths you must be sure you get it connected right. I have seen where one works and the other doesn't. When that happens it is usually due to a sync issue between the card and the software. I simply shut the computer and interface off, and restart from a cold boot. They generally will sync back up and life is fine. I don't know what causes that..... I attribute it to just the way things are in the wonderful world of windows,

I can insert the soft synth via the top menu/insert/softsynth/cakewalksoundcenter or via the "+" in the browser menu. When I only do that it does not work. It only insert a track and it does not start any dialogue.

You can also drag a synth from the list in the plugins tab (instrument button) of the browser. If you do not see the "Insert Synth Options" dialog, you might have unchecked the "Ask every time" option at the bottom of the dialog. To bring up the dialog, click on the third button at the top of the synth rack in the browser.
