News from Europe

I found out that a publisher in Europe has agreed to represent 4 of my tunes to country music artists on the continent.

I had initially sent them 2 songs after receiving permission to submit to them, last month. They liked one of those and wanted to represent it.   I agreed after reviewing the paperwork on how they work "over there" regarding music contracts & royalties.

About 10 days later I received a request for more music from this publisher that covered perhaps a dozen or more genres, both male & female, and since I had songs that fit into one or more of those categories, I sent 3 more tunes.

This morning, I found out that all 3 of the songs were selected to be represented by this publishing company along with the first one I sent, to 80+ country artists and bands they work with  in Europe.

This is all good news, but as a songwriter who has had numerous "dead end" publishing deals in the past..... I don't get too excited at this point of the process. The door was opened and I was invited in.  Now.... I wait to see what, if anything, happens next.

    Congratulations, Herb.

There does seem to be a strong market for country music in Europe these days, at least in Germany. A friend of mine has had a Top 10 country hit there. He plays a lot of folk music festivals there, and is presented as an authentic cowboy troubador. Which is funny, because he isn't. But you gotta make a buck any way you can.

Dave, perhaps I need to send them that song... Where Does A Cowboy Go?.....

The  stuff Nashville rejects as "too traditional sounding" and tells you no one in Nashville records "those" kinds of songs here anymore, the kind of country music some people call "real country music".... Haggard, Jones, Lynn, Nelson,  apparently, is fairly popular outside of the USA. So we shall see what happens....

Karyn, just start. Give it a try. The more you do it, the better you become.

    Thanks everyone.
