You Sir have been hacking into my thoughts - where's that aluminum foil? I've been thinking about this one as well. I remember back in the day demoing the real thing - I think it was around 5 bills at the time and I couldn't make myself pull the wallet out. Never forgot the sound though...

I too want this for prochannel! Or maybe I should yell that!

    Good Call!

Don't want to pay for the UAD, huh? It is a nice piece of kit.

I have 3 primary criteria for inclusion in the Pro Channel:

    1. Simplicity.  Gear that have relatively few buttons, knobs, etc. This is part of why vintage emulations are cool for this. I love it when I know exactly which plugin I want because of what it does, and love even more experimenting quickly by choosing a plug, playing with a few knobs and say "YES!" or "nope..." Keeping with these kinds of plugins in the ProChannel would be excellent.

    2. Bread and Butter. Things I want on EVERY channel. The fact that you can set default PC modules for tracks and busses awesome- you can have the basics on all tracks without inserting a plugin manually. That is cool! Adding nifty plugins that are cool on their own but wouldn't make the default cut is slightly less useful.

    3. Interaction. The ProChannel is an excellent place to put processing where interaction between tracks (side-chaining) or grouping would be excellent. It's great to be able to use Quick Groups and manual groups to tweak multiple EQ's in tandem with the Pro Channel (Quick Groups for the same tweaks, manual groups "inverted" if you want to do complimentary EQ with a few channels.)

The Dimension D certainly has Simplicity. I don't see it being Bread and Butter or highly Interactive, but Cakewalk have addressed these well with their initial Pro Channel modules and subsequent releases. I think it might just be time for the Dimension D. They've got to have a hookup being part of the Roland family.

    Peace,

    Tunes

You dont need to pay UA for this one. Emptyroomsystems already done great job, much better than UAD. I am using it on every project where is guitar. I dont think Cake need to do this one. They better focus on Sonar improvements more than on some EQ/Comp emulations.

I really like it. It's one of those units you saw as a kid and drooled over, thinking I'd really like one of those and if I had one of them I would be great. Now you can - but it doesn't make you great!

Button four works fine on the full version.

I've been using this for a while:

    http://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_Chorus/

    It's free.
    Very versatile.
I use a hint on acoustic guitar and a hint on strings to lush them up.
I just always have them pre-inserted into the guitar and strings tracks in my regular template.
With a rich reverb it sounds awesome sometimes.
    Hope this helps.

Zo I am not sure Dimension D would necessarily be such a great Pro Channel Module. Only because it is rather specialised in what it does. The existing Pro Channel modules are much more useful in terms of what they do over a wider variety of signal sources such as EQ compression etc.

But I do agree that Dimension is a very nice effect though. And because of what you said thanks to BluerecordingStudios mentioning EmptyRoomSystems I think their version of it is fantastic. It sounds killer and very close to the original. (better as there is no noise now) The other products there are rather excellent too. I have been wanting a decent plugin of Dimension for some time. There is a real one for sale here in Melbourne but they want $800 for it! Ridiculous! I knew it would only be a matter of time before a great plugin version of it became available apart from UA  and it may even be better.

It is great on killer synth pads too.

hey jeffs , why i 'm asking cakewalk about this is because  , who , better than them could ask Roland and do this !!

If i was on the dsp dept : Roland 201 echo box, Dimension D ,Edirol Orchestarl reloaded , TR Boxes , all boss and roland pedals  in an amp sim ..ect ....

Being with Roland , they have to take advatange of this  .....just a small exempl , on my Roland VS 1680 , the fx were crazy !!

By the way jeffs , try ChorX and Dim D !!

The UAD Dimension D sounds great, but I usually don't use more than one or two instances per project, if any at all. So having it avaliable in the ProChannel wouldn't be all that useful. Now, a Softube Trident A-Range EQ module would be super sweet. It's very CPU friendly, and sounds fantastic. I especially like the saturation control on it. Sounds quite different than the Softube Saturation Knob included in the ProChannel. BTW: The new UAD 1176 collection sounds absolutely amazing! UAD now have 5 different models to choose from.

2re , yep this what i heard ...but for now i'm just enjoying the UBK 1 witch is wiked !!

i always find that the Tla 100 is better than the 1176 in 90% of time ....when it come to comps , well i can stay ok with only : SSL Deunde bus comp , CL1B, TLA 100and the UBK1 ....and maybe a M/S one like the Fairchild or Fabfilter Pro C....

I'm not sure that a reverb would fit the ProChannel paradigm, but I'd love to see a Roland SRV-330 Dimensional Space Reverb plugin. It was one of the great under-appreciated boxes of the past, IMO. Roland should give cakewalk the algorithms and let them code it up.

I've been using UAD plug-ins for years now, but every time UA release a new toy, it usually gets more and more DSP intesive. So lately I've been replacing the UAD comps and EQs for native plug-ins, and reserve it's DSP for plug-ins that are unique to the platform, such as Studer 800A, Lexicon 224, EP-34 etc. It kind of defeats its purpose now. When I first bought in to the UAD platform, it was to offload my CPU. Now it's the other way around. I've found Softube to be a great replacement. The TLA-100A is nice and colorful. Love it on vocals. It tends to roll off the treble just a tad, giving it a somewhat darker character than, say, the FET Compressor (which now is my main native 'color' compressor. For clean, transparent compression, I prefere FabFilter Pro-C). The TLA-100A is also quit CPU intensive, so I wouldn't use more than one or two instances per project. For bus comp, I've been using UAD 4K and Precision Bus Compressor. They've now been replaced by The Glue, though, lately I've been using Sonar's PC4K bus compressor a lot. It's up there in the same league IMO. Too bad the PC76 U-Type Compressor isn't...

I'm most certainly of the opinion, that now the PC2A is with us,WE DO NOT NEED more PC modules.

They[cakewalk] have excelled with the Pro Channel,it is now time to FIX THE BUGS,and of those, especially THE CRASH without fail features!

    Thank You.
