Sorry I haven't been here enough to have seen your request for mobo recommendations. The question I would ask is do I need/want the additional "stuff" unrelated to the purpose of the computer on the mobo? Only you can answer that.
The trend to light up motherboards reminds me of the ground effects that were once cool for certain cars. One of those expensive niche car makers...I think it's lamborgini, makes a car that changes colors. Must be similar tech to this. Color changing leds.
If you are looking to primarily record audio the other stuff is just "stuff". The onboard audio on these mobos is what concerns me the most and how tightly integrated it is into the system since you won't need it to record..could be a problem, or not. In some cases Windows resets drivers after you install your interface. 
It wants to think it's a gamer board and you have to "fool" it into doing something else.

I seen in another recent post you posted to someone looking for a mobo. I  thought it was a post you made.
Onboard audio matters if it interferes with the audio interface. 
PCI slots or not this mobo is marketed to gamers. All boards market features true dat.

 I think the board itself is cool. I appreciate that you put it up here for us to look at. I mistakenly thought you were asking for our feelings/thoughts about the board, so I gave mine.
 
In looking at a mobo I try to look at what could be a problem for a DAW, so in that respect I am intentionally critical because if there are issues wouldn't you want to know beforehand? Yes, the USB 3.1 looks like an awesome addition.The PCI card slots are nice for those that need them. 
 
I have had conflicts  with certain onboard audio setups. I've also had some that never had any trouble. My most recent issue was more with win 10 changing my audio drivers. I would start my computer and it would show only my onboard audio. I needed to reinitiate my drivers for my audio interface. Granted this is more a problem with win10, but some systems seem to be more prone to these kinds of problems...so I was curious how hard it would be to bypass the audio on this mobo. The only way to know that would be to build it and try it or see if anyone else has.
 
If you like it and don't mind betting the farm on it, it's probably as good as a half dozen others as something to start with. Really nice for those who have PCI cards they don't want to part with and who want to use something besides an Intel cpu.

I don't think it's my interface. It's Win 10 trying to update drivers. Win10 updates were invading my drivers and making changes. In the process it removes or disables the interface drivers. They don't write drivers any more for my box. I got it working after I realized the issue. Haven't had any more problems.
 
I'm glad you guys haven't had issues. Don't mean to sidetrack the thread. 
 
Concerning using any mobo with onboard audio ( and they all have it) theoretically it should be a simple to go in and uncheck the onboard drivers and it usually is easy. I was personally questioning the more recent mobos with 6 or 8 tracks of audio surround sound etc etc.....it might be a few more ticks on the driver list to rid it. If you want to use it as playback I could see the possibility for conflict.. Maybe a good title for a future thread on disabling onboard audio. I'd be interested to hear of any others experiences here.
 
In my current setup I can play windows media and youtube just fine, but when I change from Sonar I hear a very small pop. It might be changing sample rates or even switching drivers. I haven't dug into it deep enough yet.

This is my guestimate of what happened. Windows associated a known driver setup with my build which included using my on board audio...kinda what you just said, only I'm not convinced that it really looked for anything else when it found the onboard drivers. Might have never looked for my hardware at all. 
 
My pop noise which is very small happens when I change my audio from one thing to another thing. If I'm using Sonar and I decide to close it and look at a video on youtube I hear a very small switch over pop. Not enough to harm anything. Thanks for the suggs Mesh.  I'm not at all concerned about it since you almost can't hear it when it happens.

I have on board audio enabled and only use it for anything but DAW. I never use my audio interfaces for Windows stuff.

I used to think think routing Windows audio through my monitors was a bad idea, but listening to online media is just so much a better experience with them.
 
I suppose a lot depends on your audio interface and it's drivers and how they're put together. I use a Motu Ultralite Mk3 Hybrid via firewire. Sonar, Sound Forge, and other audio/video tools are all set to use the Motu's ASIO interface - while Windows simply talks via Windows wave. Both ASIO and Windows wave co-exist and operate simultaneously.
 
 
It might bother some, but the occasional audible windows notification doesn't really bother me.
