Hi, Show her the posts on this thread first! I probably wouyld show her Daevid Allen doing the glissando. That's a Hohner he uses and it's headless, and Steve Hillage uses the same/similar model for the same thing. They are the only two folks that know how to use the glissando nicely in any piece of music, be it meditation (both have albums with it) or just songs. Something "different", since all the other guitars kinda look the same. After that show her some Egberto Gismonti and those homemade 8 and 10 string guitars he used to play. His solo albums from 30 years ago, are out of this world, and have a tendency to intimidate rock'n'rollers real bad!

Well.... A niceish acoustic. A sh1tty strat copy. An Emperor Swingster (in wine red) A cheap LP copy (in pieces, she wants it sprayed green... I told her she has to do it) 2 or 3 ukeleleleles (assorted sizes) Jazz bass (copy) She's at collage doing a music course. She writes. She likes most things from The Levellers to Taylor Swift. She has Becan.

The regular/american strats are not that spendy unless the dollar conversion over there is nasty.

If I were rich I'd get her a VOS Les Paul Standard which equates to about $7000. The Line6 is cheap by comparison.

There are some nice Yamaha's or Tokai's that won't break the bank and will be far better than that crappy Strat copy. In fact, I know a few people who prefer these over a real Strat.

Karyn I left so I could think about it and give you the best answer I could come up with. I had to put a price limit so I thought between 2500- $3,000.00. It had to be special for a very special person. I thought; Imagine if I could get one that was made by a luthier that was raised under the wings of the luthiers that designed and built the first electric guitars that will be known for all time. Had spent his life building and then overseeing the best luthiers for custom shop builds and now builds with his name attached. A true living legend in electric guitar luthiery. Well that is very possible and I can not think of a more fabulous gift for someone special. Here. There isn't a question about guitars that can't be answered a phone call away. He also takes time to answer emails as if he'd known you for years. I admire him. He is a credit to the guitar world. Whatever you do...all the best. Michael

Bought one of these, but I don't sound like the guy in the video. (I think the PUs are you know - for the price.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWw90TR-Erw http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ET33NANH/ Get a good one though. On second thought though, the neck is a bit wider than my Gibson. Maybe different necks on those, depending on where you buy one if you buy one. My hands probably are bigger so no big deal to me. Little sister to the es-335. Oh, the case for the guitar is separate and mine warped a little on top. But I suppose any case can be bought, a $100 or so extra for a case. And anyone can get whatever guitar they want. (now back to income tax whatever forms whatever). Bye! Oh, here's another video from England of the two a lot of people watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRIbb0yYRII
