Nightmare never ends... Sonar X1b still has enough bugs to make my work frustrating

Just found two of them in the first project I tried -

- acidised wavs dont preview at project tempo/scale
- deleting a clip often moves an overlapping clip (with clip volume envelope) a few milliseconds to the right

Dont they ever beta test their projects? Anyone who composes on sonar will find these bugs in the first go, wonder who tests runs sonar?

Oh no. And I was going to start using it now that I have the PC EQ under control.

I just hope they put up a quick fix X1b1 instead of waiting for a whole couple months to get another list of issues before anyone can start working on sonarx1 again.

The first one you mention (previewing) has been brought up a few times now.

It's a workflow showstopper for me, frankly.  Not in every project (as I don't need loops/wavs externally in every project).   But geez - in those projects where we need to audition those types of files, there is simply NO workaround whatsoever!

I don't think they'll wait very long this time. Not with Pro Channel broken as has been confirmed (Pre/Post not staying set inbetween uses and the lights not indicating correctly). Their marketing will take a huge hit with this fabulous embbeded feature not working correctly.
I haven't moved to B yet (The Projects created in an earlier version (even as early as X1A) not working has got me really scared.) I've been with the bakers since Cakewalk 3, but these X1 problems (Along with people like Billy Arnell having his doubts. If Billy says there's something wrong, then there IS something wrong!) has me thinking for the 1st time, it maybe time to look into another DAW.

To be frank, I don't want to be the poster boy for what's wrong with X1.  I appreciate the credibility you entrust in me, but I'm not alone here.   There are other very credible people having lots of issues and not being happy with the X1 experience.

I haven't even posted about things I'm finding because I've come to accept that many of the users here simply do not use a lot of the features I do (and need).  Some don't even know they exist.

So it becomes a little like walking into a room of people who speak a very different language than you.  It's hard to communicate things, and then it turns into a very partisan groove.   This is very much happening on this forum.

Every time someone claims how well X1 is working for them - I don't disbelieve them.  I'm sure it is if they say so.  I also, in my own mind, think they really don't need a lot of the tools some of us do - and therefor just never bump into the walls in X1.  Simple as that.

But, frankly I'm reaching a very diasspointed level with Cake.   I don't doubt the programmers have the skills to make great products.  Sonar has been my right arm for years.  NO OTHER HOST even tempted me until recently.

Last year I did a ton of TV work, a bunch of songs, and doing many various types of music all in 8.5.3.  It was their best in my opinion.

Do I WANT to not like X1?  OF COURSE Not.   That's silly of anyone to think.

BUT - I AM experiencing things using it that I just don't think cut the mustard and truly slow me down, especially those things that simple do not work.

But again, I don't want to be the sole barometer about this.  That just makes me a bigger target for the fanboiz -- and we know how that goes.

    Regards.

Ive been a 'sonar' user since Cakewalk 3 I think. Thats almost/over 10 years. I was forced to move to Nuendo for the first time in these many years because sonar simply didnt support third party surround plugins that other software did. And dolby mixing for television has become quite widespread now. Frankly I was shocked at how stable Nuendo was, and how many features it had that sonar could do with.

But that was just for mixing, Im still composing on sonar. But if features we take for granted in previous versions start breaking apart here, and take so long to fix, that will make me think again. The least they can do is fix these issues as we find them and release quickfix patches, instead of waiting a month or more.

Got to admit, I've NEVER considered any other DAW untill all the X! problems. Even so, I only crashed a couple of times in X1a and the bakers have always come through in the past. I really thought the X1b would shut up all the nay sayers.
    Whoops.
I still beleive that they will, but they need to do it a little faster. I mean, the biggest reason I told someone to move to X1 was Pro Channel and now it's broke.
C'mon CW, I still beleive, just fix a little quicker, huh?
