Ninja Audio Transposer Be Gone!

Hi,

Last night I recorded an audio track of a guitar riff that I know was in E. But when I opened the X3 project today the pitch was jacked up to a pitch that is not even on the diatonic scale! As near as I can tell it's somewhere between F and F#! Anyone know what may have caused this and how to fix it and prevent it from happening again? I used to be able to fix this with one of at least 2 pitch manipulation tools in the audio effects that allowed me to dial the pitch in by cents. I wonder how much Celemony paid Cakewalk to yank those handy tools from my arsenal! GRRRRRR!!!! Even Melodyne displays the incorrect note so maybe it's a system thing. I have a VERY hard time doing the simplest task with Melodyne so I downloaded the 30 day trial version and am wishing I just had my SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE TOOLS back!!!! Can I uninstall the Melodyne trial without uninstalling the basic version that comes with SONAR X3? I guess I could fix it (BIG MAYBE) with Melodyne if I had a clue how to transpose selected notes by a cents instead of individually. HELP!!! I just want to make music. That's all.

Thanks,
Jeff

Arrrgghhh!!! Now I uninstalled Melodyne 4 30 day trial and no longer even have the Essential package! So is it true that without Melodyne, I have no way of adjusting pitch at all? Process / Transpose / Transpose Audio only works for semi-tones. Is there a way to re-install the essential package without re-installing all of X3. I'm not even certain how to do that? :-(

What I would do is log on to your Cakewalk products here https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Products

From there you can grab your Melodyne Essential serial number and download just the Melodyne Essential install package.

As far as adjusting notes in small amounts using Melodyne Essential, Once you've selected your audio, created Melodyne Essential region effect, you can select the actual note that you wish to change and then click on "Correct Pitch" button (On the right of the Melodyne Essential window).  Bear in mind, however, Melodyne Essential only processes single notes.  It does not handle polyphonic passages.  For that, you do need Melodyne 4 assistant or above.

The question really is, what is doing the transposing? You shouldn't have to fix stuff like this, and it degrades the audio quality. Have you changed tempos in this project at all? Does it happen with other projects? Can you simply record a riff in a new project, hear it back correctly, save project, re-open and hear it back correctly again?

Cheers, Peter.

Thanks for the response. I just got off the phone with tech support and I guess I recorded it at 41 and SONAR was set to replay it at 48 sample rate. SONAR was not sensing that my PreSonus was set to 48. Regarding the insidious presence of Melo-BLEEPING-dyne I couldn't be more discouraged.  Selecting Melodyne Essential from my purchased products page does not give me a download link. I need to download all 4 gigantic X3 install files, then run advanced install. Hopefully I can get by without re-installing all the patches. Once I do finally install it then I'll need to spend another couple hundred dollars just to get a feature that came with SONAR for FREE! That's pathetic. If I need to transpose all notes in a selection by fractional semi-tones I'll just export the WAV and use another tool I guess.

Hi. It sounds to me like there is a mismatch in driver settings. Do you have the same in both your Audio Interface and SONAR?
All the best.
Edit: You found the answer while i was typing. Glad you got it figured out

Ps. When downloading, make sure to save to a location that is available if you want to install again later. Or burn to a disc.

This little step can save hours! I tucked it away in a special folder.

I back up my downloads folder to another drive. When the folder reaches more than 20 GB, I burn two Blu-Ray discs, delete the downloads, and start over.

Also - there are ways to adjust tape-style varispeed fine pitch in SONAR, and then you can Ctrl+drag the end to make it the right length.

You can download Melodyne from the Celemony site. You would have had to register it there anyway.
