Another no brained I have never found a use for is the Rob Paping delay.

I'd forgotten about that one. A perfect example of a plugin that looks like it should be useful, but isn't.

I'll add a couple recent inductees into the ho-hum club: the VKFX chorus and delay plugins I got for filling out the CW questionnaire. I keep trying to use them, but every time they end up being replaced by better alternatives.

Then there was the Plug 'n Mix offer: like them on Facebook and get a free plugin. I got their transient shaper (TransControl). I hear some of their other products are great, but this one's a stinker.

On a more positive note, I think you'd have to include ValhallaRoom in the category of cheap plugs that have more than earned their keep. Fifty bucks for a reverb that sounds almost as good as a $4000 PCM-96. That still feels like finding a sack of money on the side of the road.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Are those chorus and delay part of the VFKX set? I thought that bundle was great on electric pianos ?

I actually use the delay.  Not because it is so great, but because it's sitting right there on the pro channel.

Sampletank 3.

I'm a sucker for the "Lots o' sounds" things since I like playing with old General MIDI files, which I've been fascinated with for decades. My quest used to be to get a better sample set to play them with. However that has long since passed, I now have tons of specialized instruments that are very good, in addition to some extremely good general sets (Bandstand, Colossus, Kontakt factory library, Halion Sonic 2, etc). So I need to tell myself "No, more doesn't help. You need to buy individual better instruments, not a package." But then something comes along and I say "Ooooo shiny!" and get it.

So I got ST3 for like $100. I have thus far never used it. I have never found a case where I liked something it had better than my numerous other choices.

Same here, Sycraft, but I do like the "package"-workstation aspect of ST3.

add the anderton tutorial  vids to my list. I got them at the blowout prices. More than worth it because they really showcase how much can be done with stock plugins. The Sonitus pluins may be long in the tooth but they are rock solid  and can be used on just about any project.

I do too, but I already owned Halion Sonic 2, which is the same kind of thing, so it was a really silly buy. But then I am silly for owning all of this, since it is just a hobby. :D
