No Level meter on record or playback (X2 Pro)
When I add a new track and record to it there is no level meter as if no signal is coming into the track. I'll record the track and when I play it back there is still no level meter. The level meter for the track only shows playback and record in the console view, not in track view. I have a dual monitor setup. I even cloned one of my tracks that does show the meter level in track view but it does the same thing as newly inserted tracks. I can't figure out why this is hapening. I'm not sure if it's caused by the quickfix that just came out. I installed the quickfix because I was having the prochannel issue. Any idea's? I should note that this is a project I created in X1 Expanded. Thanks Bob

Yes, its definitely caused by the quick fix!!! I saw this on my system a few hours ago. Cakewalk, Don't feel rushed getting fixes out. Get more beta testers and take your time. This should have been caught really easy. I wish they would not rush and thoroughly check things out before releasing 'Quick fixes. This fix did more damage than good for me. So what will the fix for this be called? Fixing the quick fix? I might have to go back to the original X2 Cj

Cj, I will most likely undo the quickfix. I rather deal with a blank prochannel. Bob

Same strange behavior with the fix. Peaks & meters disappear when running, re-appear when stopped along with random frozen meters.

Guys please don't jump to conclusions. This would have nothing to do with the quickfix. There are exactly two very small changes to the app itself and they are not remotely related to meters in any way. One change is with the save code and the other was a crash fix in the prochannel. There is no way that could impact meters so there is no need to undo the update - that fixes some definitive issues that were reported in crash dumps.

Same here... The exact same symptoms as Carl describes it. Only, I didn't apply the quick fix yet. I haven't even downloaded it. So that can't be causing it in my case anyway. But I did recognize this behavior in a project I've created in X1 Expanded.

Today was the first time it's happened to me after using X2 for a week & installing the fix so I assumed it was probably due to that. At any rate, patch or no it's not working correctly & needs to be fixed.

I've encountered that as well - although with X1. My workaround is to temporarily enable "echo through" (or whatever the option is that enables you to hear the audio as your playing it w/ effects or VSTs enabled, etc.. ) I only enable this momentarily, as it introduces latency - but it seems that just enabling this somehow reset that audio channel on that track - the meters jump for a second and they suddenly work. Hope that helps. Russ

Hi Folks, I'd like to get to the bottom of this issue you are experiencing with metering. If anyone can reproduce it at will or can take a video screen capture of it happening, please do so and post on this thread. There are a few conditions where metering will not display: 1. When a track is record armed, audio clips on the track will not meter, only the input will meter. 2. During count off, input metering does not display until the transport rolls. Thank you for your help and patience. Daniel [Cakewalk]

I have no idea how to take video and post it. But I can say that both of those things were not taking place. Mine was after opening an X1 project to mix in X2. Simply pressed "Play" and a bunch of tracks had blanks meters until I stopped. Then the meters were locked at their last position (which was not seen during playback).

fooman I see this sans quickfix. I reported it last night on here. Same here. I had this from my first day with X2 (freezing meters in track view, not missing meters) and reported it to Cake and on these forums - at the time I seemed to be the only one seeing it as I bumped my thread a few times then let it die as other users obviously had bigger fish to fry. I submitted my problem report at that point. I haven't been home to install the quick fix yet. (edit) - I considered that it may be video card related - however the console view and inspector meters work flawlessly - I see this on a project with a lot of tracks (but only 1 needs to be engaged) such that I scroll up and down in track view - easiest to see with a pad or something with a long lingering sound - the meter freezes depending on the scroll position of the track in track view - FWIW I never experienced the PC missing module issue at all -

I didn't even get to a point where I could see any other bugs because no metering means I can't do anything productive. I'm back on X1 till a tested fix comes out. Please excuse me if I sound like a whiner, I'm just being honest.

Hey! I'm n ot crazy (this time)? ;-) This happens on my (non-quickfix) Vista32 machine which is by spec, underpowered for X1 let alone X2... So I thought it was either that or my graphics card or some such... I even thought it was only certain track types at one point.... But as I plan to stop using that machine very soon, I've been busy on the replacement (building and setup) so I let it go for the time being... Now I see that others are finding this as well... I should have spoken up... Sorry 'bout that. I found that if I maximize the one track, the meter suddenly appears and works and if there's any signal showing when I un-zoom, the image gets frozen with the meter reading as it was at that moment. Doesn't work, but shows that moment... I have not installed the quickfix as it didn't seem to apply to me here... Keni

Hi Folks, Thank you for your patience. The problem with this issue is that it is not widespread and we've not been able to reproduce this in house. In order to fix it we do need to reproduce the problem. I suspect this is either a specific workflow pattern, a migrated setting from previous versions, or a system setting. Let's try to rule out workflow first: if anyone is willing to send me a small project where this occurs I can take a look. A short description of how it's occurring for you will also help. I'd like to know what type of track this occurs with, or if that matters. Another option is to contact our Tech support line. Someone can remote in and take a look at what's going on. Thanks again! Daniel [Cakewalk]

I've noticed a few times that several meters are "pegged" into the red, even with the transport stopped (no Fx tails playing either) This is before & after the Quickfix. Could it be related?

Here's a quick vid & one example of how it behaves. (HD full screen is easier to see) Starting playback the meters & peak indicators aren't present. Notice that scrolling the mouse unlocks them, scrolling again freezes them.. Other times the meters + peak indicators aren't present or working when playing, then they re-appear when stopping transport.

Hi Folks, Are any of you guys using a non-default personalization setting for your display such as "Windows Classic," slower than available video htz rates or 16 bit color? Does restoring to defaults fix the problem? Thanks Daniel [Cakewalk]
