No MIDI Output available and No Metronome X1 Producer Trial

I've been using MIDI with no problems with Reason and Cubase, so I know it works. Sonar, for some reason, has decided that there is no output when I go to Preferences to set it up and when I try creating a MIDI track it doesn't produce any sound.  It does seem to be registering my Creative Prodikeys keyboard as a MIDI input, however, which is making this whole thing confusing.

I heard from someone at a music store say something about Groovesynth being an issue. Can someone help me figure out what this is all about? I'm on the trial version of Sonar X1 Producer and so far I'm very happy with it but, without any metronome or MIDI, I can't justify buying the full version when the trial expires a few days from now.

Thanks advance!

The metronome problem is peculiar to the Trial installation. The click samples are not copied where they need to be. The solution is here:

I don't understand what you mean by: "It does seem to be registering my Creative Prodikeys keyboard as a MIDI input" if you can't see the port in Preferences > MIDI > Devices. Can you clarify that?

Hi brundle, I tried the solution in the thread you posted about the metronome:

Please go to your Windows Start Menu and click "Run". Or press WindowsKey+R. At the prompt, type or paste the following:

    %APPDATA%/CAKEWALK
This is where you will find the metronome sounds.  copy them  and paste into c/sonarx1trial/metronome.

    Metalbat

but when I get to %APPDATA%/CAKEWALK  I don't see any metronome sounds. This is what I see:

    F:\Documents and Settings\my_username\Application Data\CAKEWALK
    ACT Data
    Publisher
    Shared Presets
    Sonar X1 Producer Trial

So I searched through these folders for anything to do with a metronome and I found:

    F:\Documents and Settings\my_username\Application Data\CAKEWALK\SONAR X1 Producer Trial\Metronome

    Which is empty.

    I also tried going to:
    F:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer Trial\Metronome

    Which is also empty.

To answer your question about the MIDI, here is a screenshot:

So my device is there but there is no Output. Interestingly enough, I did the following and it seems to be working:
Right-click on a MIDI track > select Insert From Track Template

I'm not sure how much of a long-term solution this is going to be, but I am glad I'm hearing something. Now if I could just get the metronome working, I will be in a much happier place!
