No MIDI devices?

I've installed SONAR X1 on my Dell laptop (Intel Duo CPU T7500 2.2 GHz, 4GBRAM, 64 bit Win7). I have a SoundBlaster X-Fi Go! UCB sound card. Works fine for audio. But nothing shows up in MIDI devices, not on board sound card nor the SB X-Fi.

Can anyone offer any 4th of July suggestions? This seems really strange to me: Surely SB cards support MIDI. I have looked around on the old Internets, and there seems to be some notion of having to download some SoundFont stuff? But didn't a lot of stuff get installed with X1 to enable me to play/edit MIDI?

Things should not be hard. Software should make things easy. We should not have to take pride in being able to run a a gamut

I was checking this device out and I can't find anything in the documentation that suggests it can be used as a Midi device.

Chuck, sound cards aren't Midi Devices. They won't show up. What are you inputing Midi with? In the same sense, soft synths don't show as Midi Devices either but they do use Midi input. Sometimes like with the GS Wavetable synth they are listed in Midi Devices but that a different kind of thing. Usually you have to have a Midi "sending"- "inputing" device with it's own Midi drivers for it to show up in Midi Devices.
