No Power...

So sorry for getting behind...we had no power, and therefore, no Internet.

635,000 people lost power here in Detroit.  I was one of the those...

But FINALLY it's back on...I WILL catchup...LOL

Thanx!

Larry

I always imaged you were in the middle of the mid west... didn't realize you were on the northern frontier.

I hope the power stays stable.

    all the best,

    Thanks guys...

I'm in Redford, Michigan, which is the first suburb west of Detroit.
I moved back here from Fort Wayne, IN. to take care of my mom.

There are trees down all over the place...I had to pull two HUGE tree limbs that were completely across
the road off the road to clear it for traffic.  It was a mess here...it's finally getting back to normal.

Power outages are the worst. I don't know what to do when it happens. The TV doesn't work, there's no internet, and once the UPS battery drains no DAW. All I have left is a laptop that only has day-job work stuff on it, and an Android tablet that can't do squat without a wifi connection.

Thank goodness for my MP3 player with its impressive 11 hours of battery time. At least I can sit in the dark and listen to music.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

That's what I did...I have all my manuals and Computer Music Magazines on my Android Tablet....
and my music...so those kept me somewhat occupied...and I took a lot of walks...so maybe the
power should go out more often???  I'd certainly get more done...

Hey Larry... check out the issue date of your Pignose, if you've had it awhile.  I just sold mine and got over $300 for it, as it was from the first issues. (USA made - pre Asian)  I never used it, did a bit of research and found out that there's a collectors market (of course) for the first year issues.  Same with my ProCo Rat, btw.
And if you're serious about Solar...I work in the marine/boating business....and there's lots to choose from nowadays.  It can get pricey, if you're wanting some decent wattage, but for trickle charging, they're fairly inexpensive.
Also consider an inverter and a spare 12V car battery, especially for the lower power stuff.

All that said, I sense the sarcasm in your above post ;-)

I saw a comedy show on Netflix, Kate Madagan I believe, she mentioned Detroit in her routine. IMSMC, she said you guys are the ultimate optimists. Your still there. A shame really what's happened to Detroit. You guys should take all those empty buildings and turn them in to agricultural grow houses and start selling produce. Make Detroit the produce capital of the north there. If you search for "the Venus Project", the idea is already out there. Why not?

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.
