No Self Control (a story song)

This is an an idea I came up with while playing around with some new synth VST's I picked up, and it turned into an interesting story song.  My good friend Ed (Bapu) Kocol pitched in with a solid bass line and we were off to the races so to speak.  Give it a listen and see what you think.  No Self Control can be found here-  http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=1050818&content=music  Thanks for listening.

    Is this autobiographical Phil? :)
I like it a lot especially the synth that you are using.
The only thing that took me by surprise was the piano run after the first chorus jumped out a bit. Maybe take it down a couple of notches?

Thanks, Daryl.  I wish it was autobiographical.  I'll have to check that piano part out.

Did you ask for permission to use that picture for your thumbnail on your song? Well, OK, go ahead, I don't mind.  :)

The perky synth is great, 'cause it sets up an '80's expectation - then it turns into a blues number. Your gravelly voice is a cool juxtaposition! nice job!

    cheers,

I have never heard a synth used in a Blues-ish number, but doggone if it doesn't work in this song.  I love songs with a story and I love this story.  Your vocal is perfect for the lyrics and overall feel of the song and hey, good choice for bass player.
    Fun stuff PHIL!!!

    OK, that was funny.

Like Freddy I'm surprised the synth arps work as well as they do in this context.  But there it is.    Nice job!
