No Volume Control with Delta 1010

I have a problem with my Delta 1010.  The only way I can control the volume to my monitors is with the Windows volume control (the speaker icon in the System Tray).  The M-Audio control panel does nothing.  I can reduce the volume to 0 or mute the channels in the M-Audio control panel and it does not affect the volume.  Note that this problem is not exclusive to SONAR as I have the same problem with Media Player and Sound Forge.  Any ideas?

    Are you using the Delta 1010 with a basic Windows driver rather than specific device drivers written expressly for the Delta 1010?
     
    Check your drivers and if they are set to Windows Audio or something like that switch over to a driver made just for the Delta 1010.

    It looks like M-Audio no longer makes the drivers easily available for the 1010.

    Edit: It looked like Don't Crack had some drivers available but they just have dead links going back to the m-audio site. :-(
     
    The vendor Don't Crack has some available for download, but they don't specify what Operating Systems the drivers work with:

    You'll have to to do some searching and figure out what/if will work for your set up.

    Wow! How much space could the drivers take up on their website?? That's a conscious decision to disrespect their customer's investment.

    You have 2 solutions. 
    Buy a mixer to control the analog signal. 
    Buy an audio interface that meets your requirements. 
     
    I just bought a Mackie Mix 8 for $60can. on sale. It's super clean and you can do a lot with it. Including monitor input without sending the output back to the mains if you use the REC inputs. 
     

     
    And most audio interfaces have both a control room and headphone volume control on the front panel. I can't see working with out them myself.

    Thanks, guys.  As stated in my original post, I am using the Delta 1010 driver version 6.0.8.  It is difficult to find but still available on the M-Audio website.
     
    I have a Soundtracs Topaz 24 mixer, but using the mixer does not "fix" the problem.  I should be able to control the volume level with the Delta 1010 control panel like we always did in the past.  I should not have to use the Windows speaker volume control for this task.

    I can assume that you actually have the 6.08 driver designated as the driver actively being used by the apps mentioned, but I think that I would double check to confirm if I was sitting in front of a computer with this issue.
     
     
     
     
    What happens if you adjust the "Main Out" in SONAR? That's the level adjust that, more or less, you should leave alone because it actually controls the I/O hardware. It seems like giving it a try would show you if access to the hardware level control is available with some input other than the M-Audio control panel.

    It seems to me that if Windows volume control is affecting the volume of your interface, that you may be running with your Windows Default Audio Device set to your Delta, while also trying to use it in Sonar.
     
    I myself do not ever set my audio interface to be the default audio device for Windows - don't know if it applies to your situation - just thought I would mention it, as I have had conflicts in the past when I have tried running in that fashion.
     
    In Sonar, what driver mode are you running with?  (Preferences>Audio>Playback and Recording) - I would suggest you use a driver mode of ASIO in Sonar, and also that you have Windows use some other audio drivers than your interface.  I have never had good results when using WDM drivers instead of ASIO ones.

    You should use analog passive gain attenuator on the main out. You can find it here www.smproaudio.com
