No audio playback anymore! :s

Hello!

I recently aquired Sonar LE and installed it on Vista (I know this was a bad choice), it took me a while to set the software up because my laptop has Realtek soundcard and I had to mess about with the 'buffer size' in audio options so that I wasn't getting any stutters or dropouts on playback. I was able to sort this out (eventually) and was able to record 3 tracks without any problems.

This evening I start up Sonar again and try to record a track and the playback is very, very quiet- which I found strange as I hadn't changed any settings since the previous time I used it. I have to use MME (32) Driver modes because of my soundcard but I tried ASIO to see if that made a difference (it woulnd't even record at all then) so I re-started the software with the MME driver mode again and when I was recording my voice the levels seemed to be a lot higher (judging by the dB volume bar on the left) but when I go to play it back I get no sound at all - there isn't even any visual soundwaves in the track (it looks like I've recorded nothing).

I would be truly grateful for any advice anyone can give me!

Thanks, Sophie

    Hi, thanks for your reply!

I already installed ASIO4ALL, the software was working before - I just don't understand how all of a sudden it just won't play back or display any soundwaves.

Do you have any other ideas as to what I could try?

    Thanks.

Ok forget what I just wrote - I have uninstalled and then re-installed ASIO4ALL and set up the mic inputs and the outputs. I can record now and it is playing back but very, very quietly - this was my original problem! It doesn't seem to be picking up the sound very well.. Jeeby-creeby.

Check your levels in the Windows Volume Control. Are you using XP or Vista?
If you are using XP, the following should help. I'm not sure if Vista is similar or not.

Fixed! It turned out to be something really simple that I feel silly for asking about now - I had just had that much bother with the soundcard and the softwares incompatability with Vista that I was tearing my hair out! But for some reason now.. playback is really loud in my left speaker in comparison to my right despite Pan = C. Right, I'm going to search the forums for an answer. Thanks for your help!

*EDIT* Twas all to do with the stereo/mono dooberie.. NB must engage brain before mouth.

Thanks for your advice - it must be frustrating have people with silly brains like me badgering this forum all the time. Bye!

I have recently downloaded Sonar LE and Sonar 6 Producer Edition. Everything works fine until playing back vocals. They are faster than the track and I have tried everything from getting an audio interface, from an external soundcard and playing with the latency. NOTHING HAS WORKED! A friend was telling me that my processor may not be able to handle the program, but everything else works fine. Does anyone have ANY advice. Please help.

You should probably start your own thread - this is called thread hijacking and a online forum no no. You might get more response that way.
