Right. What Robomusic asks is whether you want MC to play your keyboard, or one of the software synthesizers which are included with MC.
Since you don't want to deal with latency from your onboard sound card, you would have to use the keyboard's synth. This could be limiting if you want to use sounds other than the ones your keyboard makes.
But really, the latency issue only relates to using soft synths in real time. You can record your keyboard while listening only to the keyboard without the delay that comes with a slow sound card. Once you have that MIDI data recorded in MC, you can then use all the soft synths you want and they should be in sync with each other on playback. Still, there could be glitches when running lots of audio (soft synths) through the sound card.
Go to 'Options>MIDI Devices' and select whatever your MIDI keyboard is plugged into for in and out. Then when you set up a track to record, choose MIDI Omni for input and the MIDI out you just selected. Read up on channels, too. Each MIDI track should be on a seperate channel or they'll all sound like piano regardless of the patch you choose.
