No love for nerds?

We had a semi-final playoff dart league match last Thursday at our home bar and my favorite waitress is wearing a t-shirt with this on it:

Needless to say, I know Pi to the exact number of digits shown.  It didn't help that I also have a goatee.  *Sigh*

(I'd pretend to be mad at her if she wasn't so dang cute...)

Not sure I would have been that lucky in life if nerds and geeks and brainiacs didn't attract ladies. Combined w/ a bit of bad boy-ism, I assure you it is a winning combo. ;)

It was on the shelf but then it fell off. I think billy stuffed it down the toilet. It will go down in Heat INC. history.

    LOL!

This reminds me that (sadly) I'm old enough to have been at school when the first calculators started appearing.

I remember 'Texas' and 'Casio' brands, complete with red and green LED displays respectively, were considered among the more desirable by my peers.

I also remember that the 'status' of your calculator depended to some extent on whether it sported a memory function or not; but the single most important feature, without doubt on those early models, was whether it had a 'square root' button or not. If your calculator had one, you were truly among the elite! Their owners looked down on us mere mortals, using just our slide rules and log tables, and only being accurate to the odd decimal place.

I did eventually join the 'square root club', but I was sad enough that, until then, I'd memorised the square roots of every number from 2 to 10 to the required seven decimal places

I took my cousin to the Tallahassee Car Museum 3 weeks ago.

I got distracted by the owners wonderful collection of adding machines and early electronic calculators.

    Classic.

Heh, I have a book somewhere of classic science fiction short stories and, in it, is one story (can't remember by who) of a guy sometime in the future that amazes all the scientists because he can do math without a calculator.

On the TV news the other day there was a story about the new fighter plane that British Forces will be using in future as a replacement for the Harrier. At the end of the brief story, the newsreader actually said that if you are a nerd requiring more info, you should go to their website.

Even supposedly impartial newsreaders have it in for nerds !
