No midi track output from session drummer or Superior Drummer 2.0

Hello,
I recently upgraded my system to windows 7 and Sonar X2 producer. When I load Session Drummer or Superior Drummer from the synth menu, they load ok and I can hear the sample groves I play, but there is no signal in the midi track, so no midi data to record.  I have a feeling I'm doing something wrong or something I'm missing..This wasn't an issue with Win XP and Sonar 8.5.. I browsed the help menu and this site not to mention a dozen videos on youtube but couldn't find any info to correct the problem. If anyone can offer any advice I'd be very grateful.

thank you

Have you recorded MIDI on the MIDI track? There isn't supposed to be anything on the MIDI track unless you drag a MIDI groove from the VST or record your own. That's the way it's always been.
