No more black cow shakes at Arby's!

So I went to use the free sandwich coupon today, and was getting a black cow shake for my wife...only to find Arby's DISCONTINUED it!

When the drive through lady told me...I was like "excuse me?" Yes, to bring in the new "swirl" shakes sadly Arby's decided it no longer needed black cows. This is a serious WTF.

Fortunately, the lady noticed the desperation in my voice...they had enough left over to make me one anyway. (I promised the pregnant wife one before I went)

Sad, sad day...end of an era. I like beef 'n cheddars and all, but no more black cows, no real reason for me to go to Arby's anymore.

I don't think there is one fast-food black cow shake available anywhere...it's not like I'm a fiend for them, but they are good every so often

I'm stuck in the past, but my foot's tapping forward

Don't fret Ron, you can make 'em yourself

Fill a tall glass about 1/3 full with root beer. Add 1 scoop ice cream. Pour in about 1/4 cup more root beer. Add 2 more scoops of ice cream. Pour in enough root beer to fill glass. Serve with club soda to add for a little extra carbonation, if desired.

try to find what brand root beer and ice cream Arby's used if you have a preference for their flavor.

    Rats!
I just filled in my Postal Code on the Arby's store locator. I was really looking forward to an All-American Roastburger and a Chocolate Swirl Shake. (A mere 1000 or so wholesome calories)
    Then guess what?
There doesn't seem to be an Arby's within 3000 miles of my front door.

Looks like I'd better investigate the franchise opportunities.

One tomato is too much tomato.

I only eat tomatoes in chili and on a club sandwich.

    Oh, yeah.

I don't eat at Arbys and I have one two block from my house (literlly walking distance).

I'll eat at Taco Bell before I'll go to Arbys.

Actually Taco Bell is one block from my house, so I guess I always "go" to Taco Bell before Arbys even if I'm not out for food.

    Yeah, strange huh?

They ruin the taste of a burger to me but compliments the taste of a turkey club (I never eat any other kind of club sandwich) or a BLT (which is a club sans turkey, right?).

I tease my kids about tomatoes all the time. they won't eat them on burgers, club sandwiches, or anything like that, but if I cut them up into little pieces and add them to a soft taco or something they don't complain about that!

    Beets. Ugh.

When I was about 4 or 5 I refused to eat my beets at dinner one night.

My mom proceeds to try and feed me my mashed potatoes with the beets under them.

I could see the potatoes turning red and told her so.

That night I did not eat the beets or the potatoes.

I'm a fussy eater and have been all my life.

My girlfriend and I were reading an article about 6 and 7 yeard olds describing foods.

From that article we've decided I have the pallette of a 6 year old.

Tomatoes on a club sandwich or in chili are the exception to rule.

Follow it with red wine or a good unfiltered beer and you'll be ok. Or at least that's what my father-in-law says. Usually followed by "water is bad for you."

Angry Whopper is the best fast food delicacy to be released in 10 years. (I recommend the double)

It will likely run a few more months and they will pull it, but while it is here it is heaven.

The jalopenos actually have some heat ! Not like Taco Bell Heat (totally wimpy and un-mexican)

    Hi, bapu,

Nope. A classic Club sandwich has bacon, turkey *and* ham, along with the other usual ingrediants. It's a heart attack on a bun. Love 'em. ;>)

Sorry for the on-topic comment, but who calls it a black cow?
I've been drinking those things all my life and until I had a question about it on my Who Wants to be a Millionare game on my cellphone (a question I got wrong by the way) I'd never heard it called that before.

I've always heard it called a Root-Beer Float. I've never heard of a black cow before.
So is that an american term? If so, is it a northern thing?

Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

I had never heard it called a 'black cow" either unti this thread! we've always called them root beer floats. maybe that's a southern thing? I'm in TX now, and that's what they call them here and I grew up in TN and that's what we called them there as well.

Stewart's (a road-side drive-in stand chain) calls them black cows. If we go to Stewart's I'm more of a traditionalist and get their root beer and my wife gets the Black Cow.
