No one home ???
Is cakewalk open. The phone just goes around in circles. Cant even get an operator and they keep saying there closed for one hour but all day long? My mp3 converter quit working when I had to go to a higher power computer to get it to work on sonar 8.5. Any advice here?

Brandon Ryan [Cakewalk ] Cakewalk is closed today, but we'll be open tomorrow. That sucks! I was about to call customer service. I've been waiting since Thursday morning to get my X1 serial number. I purchased the upgrade, but still haven't got a serial number or registration information, so I can't even install it. Grrrrr.....

Grrrrr..... Strange too. I've been ordering and registering products from several suppliers over the holidays without so much as a glitch or an order acknowledgement not showing up within 30 seconds. They've all been conducted using $ US and where I did need to be issued manually with a serial number (Steven Slate) it was carried out between Christmas and New Year. No problems, no fuss and no transatlantic premiums to pay on downloads. To be perfectly frank here my favourite music vendor to do online business with has to be PG Music. The worst, for no other reason than it is in fact the worst I've ever come across, is Cakewalk, by a wide margin. I can only base this on my experiences of course YMMV. I really and sincerely hope they do something substantial about it this year.

My guess from a business perspective ? Being relatively small, they are probably overwhelmed racing against the clock to fix X1 before they head out to NAMM in 8-9 days Add to that preparations for NAMM show itself. They may have siimply decided to ignore the phone, hibernate, load up on Red Bull and pull everybody in for some long hours to try and get on top this situation so they are more in control of things before showing up at NAMM show.

Thats a business perspective? If that eStore was a member of staff I'd have had him fired years ago. If the eStore worked well it would reduce the amount of support staff hours required to trace missing registrations and countless other difficulties people encounter and the same difficulties prospective customers have been encountering for a very long time. Losing one sale is something nobody can afford, I dread to think how many have turned away at the door here.

Aren't most businesses closed today in lieu of New Year's Eve falling on the Saturday? I know lots of places never close in the U.S., but here all the banks and government buildings, etc, are closed.

Thanks guys I just rechecked this forum and saw all these messages. I guess I feel a little better but it has taken me since August to get this new cd ready which included trying to learn Sonar to apply the drums. All I need now is to level things here and check the cd on different players all of which needs mp3!!!!! Oh I also needed to buy a 6 gig ram computer to run Sonar which ment the original mp3 converter wouldn't work. I guess most songwriter musicians only work during the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting ready for NAMM? So the web admins that support the eStore are going to be in the booth with the girls with the ballons? Did you all see the post a month ago that their systems were crashed ( http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2152249) due to demand. In the hacking world we call this a DOS attack!! (Denial of Service). Why even offer a download if you can't support giving a serial number to it? So Cakewalk didn't know they'd be busy during the holidays? Just hand the ordering over to Digital River for God's sake....

There's no reason for the programmers to be at NAMM, nor do the people who maintain the eStore need to be there. They need to be back at work fixing stuff. :)

RE>> I was thinking the same thing. There's no reason for the programmers to be at NAMM, nor do the people who maintain the eStore need to be there. They need to be back at work fixing stuff. :)<< Logically I understand why normally this would seem like a silly theory. But seeing how the last 2 months of the X1 launch has gone and the flurry of activity (some good .. much more bad) has been here on the boards ...... as well as considering how quickly other DAW products are gaining steam and rapidly grabbing more market share, I get a very strong feeling that behind the scenes Cakewalk is in a frantic "all hands on deck" recovery mode to try and get X1 fixed ....... AND....... be prepared for NAMM. They don't need something embarassing to happen at the show when other vendors and the industry are there to see. I think Cakewalk realizes they are at a critical juncture right now with a big shift in the DAW Software world going on. They can't afford to slip back in the pack.

Who gives a market share? It's still all theory and a bit silly to boot. And how does it get an ailing pig of an eShop up to scratch that's been a nightmare for years?

Simply making a basic business observations 101. This is effectively what I get paid to do ............ evaluate and fix companies to increase sales, revenue, profits, growth and employee benefits. I am a Cakewalk fan and have used SONAR since Version 3. But from a business perspective, I am pretty confident my "theory" is pretty accurate. They have suffered a misstep and have some scrambling to do to regain traction. But I think they can do it.
