Yes 100% that's the one instance you have to use input echo- when your using guitar sims.
Personally I don't use any of that. I use outboard hardware. As in, I use my pedals and an amp, not biggy, I'm just of the old school camp who has no interest in digital processed guitar tone. And as far as effect go I sing dry so I can hear what's going on without masking it. For client who needed reverb to sing, I have outboard gear.
And my interface, a Scarlett and a Tascam, will be very close to the Tascam 2x2 performance wise. So best RTL is 7ms . That's at a low buffer setting that will be on the edge of dropouts so I'm usually set at about 12ms RTL. That results in a digital delay and annoying to listen to while tracking. As you know there are hundreds of workflow situations , nothing is right or wrong if it results in a finished recording that you can enjoy.
