No sound at first when starting playback or recording

All, I searched the forum, and read a bunch of post's but was couldn't find an answer, so any input would be greatly appreciated. My issue is with Cakewalk platinum. More often than not, when I start a playback or recorded tracks I will see the marker move as if playback was working but there is no sound. If I wait for a few measures to go by the sound comes back. Also when it does this I can stop playback and go back to the start point 3 or 4 times and it will come back. It will also do this while recording. All other functions work fine just this one issue. Any idea's? Maybe sample rate wrong?
