No sound from my TTS-1
In the past, for some reason, SONAR used to stop producing sounds. The remedy was to re-install SONAR and the problem was gone. Two weeks ago, however, SONAR stopped producing sound from existing files that were OK before. Formerly when I clicked to a MIDI file it launched SONAR and when no instrument were yet included, SONAR attached TTS-1 automatically the first time around. Now, it does not. Even if I insert a new synth, the instrument does not show up at the end of the track list, but on the right side of the screen. When this happens, no sound is produced. I re-installed the software twice after carefully deleting all VST's, SONAR and anything thing related with SONAR Platinum. However, after freshly installed, still no sound is produced. It is not hardware related because everything works, except sound related to SONAR. Lastly, I noticed that after de-installing ad re-installing, the software could remember the file history of recent project. I speculate that somehow, the software is copying the configuration file of the damaged version, which may cause the problem. So, since I erased the previous SONAR directory, the file history must be stored somewhere. Maybe, if I erase that file SONAR may be forced to regenerate a new one and test the hardware in the mean time. The questions are: Is anyone out there familiar with this problem? Does anybody knows where the configuration file is stored so I can erase and force Sonar to regenerated?

Sometime -not so often time- , Sonar "lost" its audio device configuration when (for example) you use USB audio device and it's disconnected. Even after you re-connect the USB audio device, you may need to re-config Sonar. Try to see if your audio device is configured correctly in Edit --> Preferences --> Audio device.

Hi. You wouldn't happen to be working in 88.2 kHz? TTS-1 doesn't work in 88.2, and is a known issue. All the best.

Thanks to all that reply to my SOS. Unfortunately, none of the above is the case. My USB is perfectly connected and I am not working with 88.2. Does anybody know where is the configuration file that SONAR uses to connect to the hardware so I can erase it and force Cakewalk to rebuild it?

Try holding down Shift while opening.

The other issue from the OP, for SONAR to automatically insert TTS-1, you need to launch a MIDI file using SONAR with no MIDI outputs selected. First disable all MIDI outputs in SONAR, then launch a MIDI file (open with...) SONAR and the TTS-1 will auto-insert (X3 and newer have this feature).

Sorry. How do I disable the SONAR MIDI outputs and how come that a week ago MIDI files correctly open with SONAR with no need to disable de outputs? The reason of this reply is in that I am trying to find out what changed in the last week that created this effect.

Zargg Try holding down Shift while opening.
When opening a project this initiates safe mode. When starting SONAR this causes a partial personalization. A partial personalization does not overwrite files instead it copies missing files into the user directory. Full personalization (CTRL while starting SONAR) overwrites files in the user directory and resets some registry entries. Renaming Aud.ini and TTSSEQ.ini (since this is MIDI related) causes SONAR to restore defaults for this two files the next time the program is started. Similar to full personalization but preserves the old ini files and does not mess with the registry. These files are located in the user directory %appdata%\Cakewalk\ <sonarVersion>

Sorry for the late reply, I was away from the computer. In SONAR if you go to "Preferences->MIDI->Devices" both the input and output devices are listed. Uncheck all of the output devices (lower box), and then when you open a MIDI file with SONAR (Open with... by right clicking the MIDI file, not "importing" it into SONAR) the TTS-1 will be inserted and routed for you. You may also want to check the "Preferences->Audio->Devices" to make sure that what you *think* SONAR is trying to use is accurate (this may also be why you are not hearing sound).
