No sound in producer 8.5
Hi all, Please forgive my noobish question. I am new to Sonar. Just finished installing and there is no sound . I am using a Line 6 toneport ux2, and I have computer speakers as well, when I play a track, there is no sound. Idont mind where the sound is coming from, line 6 headphones or computer speakers.Ive tried all different settings in audio, currently: Playback timing master -line 6 toneport Record timing master-line in Drivers- digital audio interface, line in, digital audio, microphone. Driver mode MME ive also tried ASIO as well Please if anyone knows let me know! Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Toneport must be both record and playback timing master. I believe there are ASIO drivers for the Toneport, if so, use the newest. Also in the Input/output drivers-window Toneport must be selected.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Give some details, please. What are you playing (trying to) back - MIDI or audio? What are the track in/out settings? Do the level meters move?

Also, verify that the audio is working in Windows first before even launching Sonar. It's pointless looking at Sonar settings otherwise.

Actually that's not always true, I have my PCI card playing Windows sounds and only Sonar comes out of my USB interface. On some systems it's a good idea to disable any other audio cards but mine is set up and working fine and I know of other who do it this way. But that said, in the case of only having one audio sound card/ interface that is excellent advise. You say you are using computer speakers so that leads me to believe you hooked them up to your on board sound card,, don't do that. All audio is to come from the Tone port, either the output jacks or the headphone jacks on the toneport. First plug a set of headphones into the Tone port and then a guitar. Can you hear the guitar? Are you sure you downloaded the correct drivers?? It's easy to get the wrong ones at some sites. Only go to the manufactures site and not a third party download site.

What Kev is saying is that if Windows doesn't recognize the driver, then there is no point in trying to diagnose it as a SONAR problem.

On some systems it's a good idea to disable any other audio cards but mine is set up and working fine and I know of other who do it this way. Even if you are using several soundcards, you can easily temporarily select a different one as the default Windows playback device just for testing purposes. It is worthwhile to test each one in turn.

yep sound is working perfectly in windows. What is bizzare............. I opened sonar and........there was sound...after hours of stuffing around with audio settings it works with: playback and timing master=none drivers=none what is going on here....also midi seems to work but audio doesnt. Im guessing this is the case because all the sample tracks work except for the one with audio and midi, the audio doesnt work there...

Sorry Kev I do agree. But, With my computer it's actually not easy to use the Tascam as the default. I'm new to Windows 7 so I have not figured some stuff out yet. Well if you can't hear the guitar in the headphone jack of the tone port then there is another clue. It looks like it does not support hardware direct monitoring , in other words, you can't use it without a computer. So I was barking up the wrong tree, Most interfaces allow you to blend the input signal directly with the computer so I was thinking of that as a test. So forget I recommended that. Your monitoring is software based so that shows there still something wrong with your software install. What version of Windows are you using and are you using 32 bit or 64 bit? Their driver download does not give you a choice of bit depth which seems odd. Might be because it is an older product it does not work in 64 bit environment.

hmm I am not sure about the bit version that Im using, but I probably should have mentioned that I have had the Toneport working perfectly with another software(ableton) on the same computer..so Im thinking it may not be the driver issue. Do you think its something wrong with the producer install? I might delete and reinstall again..

That's what I am saying. There are 2 bit ( 32 +64)versions of Sonar on the disk and there are 2 versions of Windows 7. The drivers usually come in 2 flavours but I don't see that on the web site.
