Noise Reduction Software

Hi

I've been looking around for some noise reduction software/plugins to clean up some vocal/acoustic guitar recordings from background noise (fans, etc). While Sound Forge is an audio editor in its own right, I've noticed that it comes bundled with quite a few plugins, including some noise reduction ones, and a few iZotope ones as well. Does anyone know if these can only be used in Sound Forge, or can any of them be used in Sonar (64 bit) as well?

I'm a hobbyist, and my audio editing needs aren't that demanding. I'm wondering whether to go for Sound Forge, which seems like quite good value (especially if any of the bundled plugins can be used externally); or maybe sticking with Audacity, and instead buying a plugin such as RX2.

Thanks

I still use the noise reduction plugin that came with Sound Forge, but then I've been using it since it was released, so I am very used to it. I am looking at the Izotope tools, but need a project to pay for them<G>!

I think all the noise reduction plugs are pretty much the same.

    ASUS P8P67, i7-2600K, CORSAIR 16GB, HIS 5450, 3 Samsung SSD 850, Win7 64, RME AIO.

I've been using BIAS' Sound Soap Pro.  It's been very effective.  Unfortunately, BIAS went out of business a year or two ago.
