Come on Mats, you're online right now. Have you fixed it?

Whoops, crossing posts.

You have two PIC slots on that board, have you tried swopping the sound card over?

YEah! I have tried that and I ran into trouble instantly. The computer wouldn't even boot... But I have another NIC here and will try with that one in a couple of minutes.

Mats,
have you noticed the recent BIOS update for your board HERE

"P5N-E SLI BIOS 1301.
Enhance compatibility with certain VGA cards at SLI mode. "

Hey!

Thanks! I have the latest BIOS. I check for new ones every month.

I've tried some different things now. I have only two PCI-slots and I got a NIC in one of them. The onboard NIC is broken since a long time (and it's disabled in BIOS). I removed the NIC from the PCI slot and switched the soundcard to the other but no difference. The soundcard gets IRQ 17 now wich doesn't seem to conflict with anything else. The PCI-e graphics card though shares IRQ if I insert the NIC into the other slot again.

I checked my device manager and see that the graphicscard, SATA-controller (wich I also have had problems with) and soundcard all share the same IRQ, number 16 to be exact. It seems I can't change IRQ manually in Vista for some reason though. Device Manager says that there is no conflict but reports that they are using the same IRQ anyway... How do I change it? And Should my BIOS be set to PNP OS? I've tried both settings but I can't tell any difference.

Sounds like the old ACPI problem... where you had to choose to install "standard PC" when a particular motherboard didn't properly support ACPI.

Have you recently re-installed Windows?
If not, I'd start with a clean install.
