Nomad/Blue Tubes Plugins

I saw a deal here somewhere linking to a site called dontcrack.com for nomad plugins. Can anyone confirm if this is a legit site and not some warez site?

Yes, it's the main site for Nomad Factory and Plug&Mix plugins, plus they sell lots more. Totally legit.

Hi John,

Thanks for contacting us and detailing your concern for Cakewalk and Blue Tubes plug-ins provided with purchase and integrated into the DAW.

Our team have been made aware of the closure of the Sonar brand and the many requests around the web and through forums of those wishing to upgrade to the full versions, for use in other DAW, should they wish to switch...

Currently our Nomad Factory products are available through end of year at up-to 80% off, so now is your best time to get low prices on stock before the turn of 2018.  See our dealers list here.

But that said, you may of course still utilize your plug-ins in the DAW as is, they will still work as your DAW too, for many years to come!

If you would like to upgrade, we are happy to offer a path to the Blue Tubes v3 Bundle at further discount (only $49, instead of current $79 and list "$399") on view of your Sonar purchase receipt, which you may attach in reply here.  We will then provide a one time, one use coupon for discount purchase via our dealer DontCrack.com.

The Nomad Factory team.

Best regards,

Ashley Smith

I realize that.  For them to write the code costs us $49.  My "locked" version is the full version, if I'm not mistaken.
Too bad they can't replicate what Overloud might apparently be doing.  In this world of competitive software, a gesture I think along the line of Overloud's will ultimately go a lot farther than asking for more $$ just to unlock a code.  This isn't in the same ballpark as buying a new DAW.  It's using products you already have, but transferring to another DAW.  Almost all software nowadays allows for that....even switching computers.

I too wish they (all developers) wouldn't lock stuff to an app or bloat of relatively useless LE versions. What can you do?

Just to plays devil's advocate, they slip through by not selling us the product but a license to use it. Our current license is for use only in CW. sigh

To be fair to Nomad,  and others,  we have always known the restrictions and most of us have not taken the opportunity to upgrade to the full versions. Most have always offered a reasonably priced upgrade options to a more fully featured unlocked version.

Where Nomad differs is that it is full function and locked. My guess is that Cakewalk made the deal because they needed a good set of VSTs to complete the package. I think that the deal with Nomad benefited Cakewalk more than Nomad.

I think that Overloud have been amazing and I hope that they are rewarded with some sales for their support of Sonar customers.

One lesson from Cakewalk's demise is the developers need to sell products to make money.

Support the developers!

We got the locked versions of the plugins bundled as part of the Sonar deal.  A lot of value provided as long as Sonar was around!  If you like them and use them, and want them to stick around, show your support by upgrading.  They really don't owe us anything.

I am in awe of the response from Overloud, however.  They are more than worthy of our support!!!

But Overloud is working overtime to release a VST port of their Cakewalk Pro Channel Re-Matrix plugin.

Well there are always exceptions. But, IMO, most LE versions of software is not much more than demos. If you don't mind using stripped demos then fine for you. I hate when I keep running into stops, ads or begs when trying to use them. Luckily, that was not the case with most CW stuff. It has raised it's head now trying to use them elsewhere.

I wouldn't actually refer to most of the 3rd party plugs as LE, because they are full featured and functional.  They are only limited in that they are locked to Sonar.  Most of them were also sold by the original vendor in unlocked bundles that we could upgrade to, if we desired to use them elsewhere.

Not a bad deal overall because we essentially got them included for free when we bought Sonar.  It probably saved us hundreds, which is important if you are just starting out and need some plugins.  The vendor also got a deal because they got product distributed to more users to expand their customer base.  Win/win deal if you ask me.

I went back and listened to all of the Sonar bundled Blue Tube plugins.  I think I already have EQ, reverb, and compression covered well by other plugins in my stable.

The Nomad plugin that still seems of interest to me is Blue Tubes Analog Trackbox, on sale for $25 at DontCrack.  http://store.dontcrack.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=39&products_id=219

the latest addition to the Blue Tubes Plug-ins range, and combines all the best elements of the Tube Emulator, CP2S compressor and PEQ332 parametric equaliser to create a truly flexible and spectacular sounding valve front end for any audio system.

AAS came back to me with an offer that let me get Lounge Lizard EP-4 for 50% off the sale price.

This made good sense for me as I have been meaning to get the full version for some time but kept making do with the version that we had.

I bought the $99 dollar Integral Studio Pack III and am pleased with it. It all works now with Studio One plus I have more option to use in Sonar too. I lot of very useful plugins. I'm not gonna complain about anything. I did have to delete the Cakewalk path in Studio One and Mixcraft and then re-add it below the full version path to get it all to work. The original Blue Tube (Cakewalk locked) files were keeping the new ones from loading.

I'm sure the versions being locked resulted in huge licensing discounts to cakewalk. The benefit for third parties is that the locked versions gets people on upgrade path. Not their fault. What Overloud and AAS did was awesome but can't be mad at those who don't follow suit. They fulfilled their end of licensing deal.
