Noob Question - Cannot hear MIDI

I've used Music Creator 5 for about a year now and took advantage of the offer on Cakewalk Store over the weekend for the upgrade to X1 Studio. I'm very excited about using the product but have encountered a (hopefully) minor issue. I opened up a Cakewalk project I'd previously recorded in MC5 and cannot hear any of the MIDI data. My device is listed in Edit>Preferences>MIDI Devices but when I select the device and click "Apply" I immediately receive an error message telling me I have no selected any MIDI devices and asks if I wish to proceed without them. The  input options I have to select from are My Line 6 interface (non midi), My Lexicon interface (the one I ordinarily use for MIDI in MC5), 2 PCR MIDI In, 2-PCR 1, and 2-PCR 2.  My output options are the same as above but with Microsoft Wavetable GS synth.

In fact, the Preferences dialogue will not recognize my Lexicon interface as either an input or output device, even though it is included in the list of devices.

The tracks in question are an EZ Drummer track, a TTS 1 track, and a couple of Sound Center tracks. For the EZ Drummer tracks, the input is set to "All Inputs Omni" and the output to EZ Drummer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi david - first, this is not the X1 forum, it's the sonar 8.5 and below forum, but I can likely help you anyway.

the lexicon lambda has a MIDI port, right?  choose it.  or if you don't have a keyboard connected to it then don't choose anything and just check the box that tells sonar not to ask you again.  the only thing you need to be worried about for the MIDI devices is if you have a keyboard connected, if not, it's not a problem.

for MIDI or for audio drivers?  if for MIDI, again - don't worry about it anyway if youdon't have a keyboard.  if for audio drivers, then you need to make sure you're set to WDM driver mode and lthen run the wave profiler with the lexicon and line 6 connected.

I'm assuming your trying to run sound out of the lambda and not the line6.  so if your MIDI tracks are output to each of the softsyths and the softsynths are output to the master bus and the master bus is output to the lambda then you should be "hearing" the MIDI play when you play the project.

Thanks for the help Beagle. Sorry I posted in the wrong forum. I saw Producer and Studio in the forum title and just assumed it meant X1 Producer and Studio. My problem was primarily with EZDrummer and apparently the issue is a 32 bit/64 bit issue. I managed to get SI Drums working so I know it isn't truly a MIDI issue.

yep - lots of people are posting X1 questions in here because of the Producer and Studio in the title.  I've suggested to the mods that they change the title of this subforum to Legacy or something more appropriate.

ah - OK - make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest update from Toontrack for EZD.  EZD will not work on 64bit without the update (but it will work in 32bit).

"Sonar 8.5 and earlier" would probably be clear enough.

@Beagle - Thanks for the clarification.  The forum hierarchy makes much more sense to me now.
