There's another alternative; use a tweaking utility such as X-Setup, to prevent the Ghost Start Tray app from loading. This does not interfere with using Ghost in Windows should you wish to. There is also a Ghost Start Service which you can set to Manual in Windows Services. That seems to be it, at least for Ghost 2003, which is what I have. It may be different for Ghost 9.
As for the bootable CD, you can make one from Windows Ghost before you uninstall, which is probably the simplest solution.
So far I haven't found Ghost 2003, or Drive Image 7, which Ghost 9 is a clone of, to do any harm sitting on my DAW as long as its processes are turned off.
BTW, you can also run Ghost from the program CD.

Why not just got to Start > Run Msconfig > Startup and unckeck it?

I've been using Drive Image 2002 for a long time with not one problem.
I bought Ghost 9 just to have an alternative. Haven't installed it yet.

After reading this thread I'm gonna buy Ghost 2003 off of eBay and throw 9 in the trash.
Reason is that I tried Drive Image 7 and it was problematic.

I haven't used msconfig recently, but it used to always give an annoying message about "selective startup for diagnostic purposes" when you uncehecked stuff, every time at startup. Anyway, X-Setup 6.6 is more convenient and it's free. Other free utilities will do this, too.

That's when you check the box that says " Don't show this message"

I ended up making a copy of my Drive Image Program CD and using that.

Problem being, that I can't boot into the PQRE from the copy, - only from the original.

They've got a box for that now? Hm, I guess I havne't used msconfig for longer than I thought. Anyhoo, whatever floats your boat, msconfig or X-Setup will do the job.
