It`s hard to find any words to what have happened, it`s just terrible.

Yesterday there were parades against hate all over the country, it was very emotional. In the words of the Norwegian Crown Prince: "Today the streets are filled with love."

Johannes

I'm glad to hear about the parades.  It shows that the healing process has already begun.

I'm also reassured that the judge hasclosed the hearing and blocked any public statements or reading of the manifesto.  If this disgusting guy kill all those people JUST TO GET ATTENTION, he should be locked away in solitary confinement-ten years for each death--consecutively--should do it.  That should keep in occupied for 80 years or so.  Let a few detectives and scholars study the thing, but I hope they don't give him the satisfaction of letting him get his way.

Best wishes on the healing,
Jan

I agree with you on that Jan – I think he should be locked away and not even have any contact with the prison guards, receiving food and the basic things he need through a hatch in the door so he can rot away alone, driven to insanity by lack of human contact and when he finally dies the fill his cell with concrete and leave it at that!

Now that I got that off my chest....

Last night I was amongst over 200 000 people in Oslo. I've never, ever seen that many people in the streets. The parade had to be cancelled because there were too many people there so everyone stayed wherever they could fit in; holding up roses in the air and all the grief and difficult feelings kind of flowed out of all of us. The appeals from the speakers consisted of well chosen words, delivered with honesty and compasion. Seeing that many people holding up their flowers and not say a word was simply breath taking. And Oslo was covered in flowers after the event which in it self was beautiful. Even the police and security guards seemed to participate more than “guarding”. It was a weird moment, but it was a beautiful moment.

Thanks for the support everyone. We Norwegians here on the forum really appreciate it!

Thanks, ProjectM.

It felt good for me to vent a bit, too.  Glad to hear that the parade was "cancelled" for a good reason.  Thanks for that update, too.

He he, yeah, I thought the "cancelation" was pretty cool;)

for anyone interested, the Norwegian news paper VG made this collage of images from Oslo after the flower parade. It's pretty good.

If I could share my utmost sorrows and tears to you who have suffered this cruelest of sins and sorrows!

I lost a 3.5 y/o son 12 years ago (drowned) and the grief is utmost, fwiw.  Your/my wives and childen are my greatest love and heartbreak here on earth.

I quickly wrote 60+ reasons I felt that 'why' it may perhaps have pleased the Lord to take my favorite son away with no resurrection.

As with my great love for the child, though,  flashbacks and hallucinations of the excellent child's face ... seemed 'designed' to humble me forever, fwiw, which I believe has helped my conscience, compassion, etc.

What strikes me greatly is the dignity, intelligence, restraint and sensitivity expressed by the Norwegian representatives that have been shown speaking on news reports here.  That and the commonality the Norwegian people are showing as they unite in the wake of this terrible tragedy.

I really appreciate the Norwegian contingent chiming in here too it lends a perspective on it that I wouldn't otherwise have.

Bless you all.

I certainly do not mean to derail this thread honoring the lives lost and sympathies for a nation in pain, but I just wanted to make a side note here to Philip - I did not know that you had lost a son.  I am certain that is more pain that I can imagine.  My heart and prayers go out to you as well my friend.

I'd like to echo Beagle's message to Phillip.  My sympathies and best wishes to you on the loss of your cherished son.  Even though it's not a recent loss, it's still a monumental loss to live with.

Thanks Reece, Old55, and Janet,

I'm exeedingly touched.

Really, fwiw, God has much-more-than-made-up for my loss on His end.  (Other children, included)

I write that the hallucinations and astonishments that loving parents will suffer for their children will become tolerable within a few months, as per my wife and I, but it requires a little real faith, not the agnostic sort.

Certainly, a biological child is one of the greatest gifts a man can cherish!
