Not Sure How to Save Clip Automation

A newbie question: I've recorded a guitar track, and I applied clip automation (gain) to the track. I'd like to save the track with the automation I've applied so I can go back to working on the track as a normal clip (ie, no red automation line, etc.). Unfortunately when I choose "bounce to clip" the track becomes gray and I can't do fade ins-outs. Anybody know what I should do?

Thanks for the help!

Change the Track edit filter back to "Clips". You had to change it to "Clip Gain" to write the automation.

I would suggest if you're intending to do a fade in and fade out you don't need automation, drag the upper left corner of the audio clip and that will create a fade in, do the same with the upper right corner of the same clip and that will create a fade out, no automation needed
