Montezuma,
You have good ears.
davdud101,
Your comments were particularly heart warming to me, to hear that you really liked this one. I remembered your thread on frustrations with your own vocals. It's a big, big learning curve and its taken me all these years to be this mediocre. It's a craft that we just have to continue to work at. You mention that you like the loose feel of the vocals. I have been working at having a more natural and loose feel to my singing, while hoping to stay in tune. I have often thought my vocals seemed to forced and unrelaxed, so to speak. As I have worked on this, it seams like my upper range is becoming easier to sing.
Pug,
Thanks for returning. Yep, Summer in TX, she's here!
Jimmy,
As always, you are right on the money. It was a major bummer to come right out of the shoot with issues. I of course always want honesty, it is what helps us to continue to grow in our craft. I continue to be amazed at the quality of the original work that is presented on this site. I find the whole artistic process of creating to be quite fascinating. I always trust your opinions on my work, bro....you have some definite skins on the wall.
Capg,
Give those mic's another try man. Do some experimenting to find exactly the right placement, but once you do. As long as you have a really good instrument that sounds really good, the mic should capture exactly what your ears are hearing. None of my rooms in this house are ideal for recording. I have one room that sounds pretty darn good, but I can never use it. So....I control my own space a little, to take some of the room out of the equation. Your just have to make sure that you are not taking any of the good stuff out of the equation at the same time. All I am trying to control is that boxy hollow sound of a bad room.
