Not a complaint, just stating facts
I will not open existing projects or start new ones in X3 for now. Two serious problems that affect me. 1. Waves VST3 versions will not retained saved settings upon reopen of a project. Noel says he should have this in a patch by the end of the week 2. Any VST3 followed by any UAD plug causes strange behavior such as motor boating, (I believe) silent projects and crashes SONAR. I hope #2 is fixed by the end of the week too. The alternative is to go back to using only VST2 plugs. Which I'll consider if the fixes are delayed beyond when I need to open projects for real. Going back to X2 for now may also be the alternative but that means going back and deactivating all the mono plugs again (aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ~TM STraummy)

For now I reverted to no VST3 support in X3.
I hope X3b solves the above two issues.

The title is interesting too, there is a problem but it doesn't warrant a complaint, just a statement. Sounds like Bapu is aiming to sit at the top table next to John upstairs. Now, where are my rose-tinted specs?

Cool that you found the problems and they are working on correcting.
Also good that you can at least use X2...I'd be dead in the water again.
After listening to some of my recording work last night that may not be
such a bad thing. geeze....finally get back to enjoy recording/learning and the
results are like taking a butt kicking.

I don't get it ... don't these goons know that people use other stuff with their programs, or are these blockheads ... just that ... blockheads? If I ran a software company, and my folks did not pay attention to forums like this one and the other tools that people HAVE TO USE, because no software has the right stuff ... I think I would be looking for other programmers ... And I'm not sure that you can sell a product without allowing your folks to check it! SPECIALLY THE SPECIAL ONE NAMED BAPU? (Just noticed how appropriate my tagline is for software that is exactly like all the others!)

Bapu, a related question, since youse seemz ta bee in da know:
On another forum I am part of it was indicated that Sonar X3 also did not work with VST3 in VSL's VE Pro 5, and that Cake admitted they were not even aware of that world/program.
Do you happen to know if that also will be on the fix-it list?
For the first time in forever (well since 8.5.3 anyway) I am thinking about upgrading, but once again, one of the things that would be key for me doesn't work in ye olde Sonar.

I'm not anymore in the know than anyone else on this forum. I just happen to be actively involved in the above mentioned bugs and what I quoted about what Noel said was what he sad in one of the threads.
Sorry but with regard to VST3 syths I am in the dark. I only own or have installed (AFAIK) one VST3 synth. Elements from Waves and I have not even loaded it up under VST2 yet.

Would you be so kind as to make sure that those goons fix their software and make it work on 64-bit?
I keep thinking that 64-bit, is the professional standard, not the home user standard, which usually costs less, though in this case with W8, you get both versions!
If Sonar does not do 64-bit, I question its aims and professional ability.

Veinna Ensemble is a very popular and much used program. I don't think that Cakewalk would be unawares of such a program. Unless they're living under a mushroom.
